When it comes to dealing with all those pet projects in the big spending bill before Congress, President Barack Obama's budget chief says wait till next year.
White House budget director Peter Orszag says the Obama administration isn't happy with the billions of dollars aimed at lawmakers' pet projects also known as earmarks. Obama had campaigned on changing the way such money is appropriated by Congress.

Well, if he isn’t happy with them, why does he not veto all these bills?
"There are no earmarks."
Face it, we’re all going to be waiting not one year, not two years, but four years.
Because then he’d lose the votes of Kit Bond, Mitch McConnell, Thad Cochran, and the rest of the GOP porkers he’s counting on to pass it.
He had some in there but they took his name off and substituted someone elses. Rahmadingdong had some too.
Wait till next year? Is he so naive as to think the congress is going to act any differently next year. They want their Earmarks and they don’t give a hoot whether or not Obama likes it (Which he did when he was a Senator).
Frankly, those bastards should start worrying about OUR votes first. I’ve already written to Sens. Shelby, Cochran, and McConnell. Seeing that six of the top ten porkers were Republicans pissed me off badly. No excuse for this.
I wrote my Congresscritter about it. He’s a good guy, part of the Pence/Flake crew, voted against every bailout, fought for earmark reform. I sent a note pleading with him to get the good GOP critters to somehow put pressure on these porker senators, somehow gain control of the GOP agenda and help us police our own. I got a phone msg from a staffer at his office, wants me to call and talk about it. I’m gonna call him next week.
Sadly, my congresscritter is Carol Shea-Porter, aka Che-Porter. I’ve written and called her office several times. I don’t think she’d take my call if I were there to wish Marx happy birthday. Amazing how she called for more open government when she ran against Jeb Bradley in 2006, but as soon as she gets elected she becomes as hard to reach as Britney Spears’ one working brain cell.
Living in NJ, I’m very lucky to have Scott Garrett representing me. It says a lot about the red county haven where I live. I don’t even bother to pay attention to my senators. They are always among the worst in the nation.
You do have a point, but I would say there is much more than that.
Wait till next year.....We won’t have ANY money left for Pork. Sort of a self fulfilling prophecy.
From what we've now learned - Obama was ALWAYS a liar.
I haven’t seen any articles about a proposal to give Zero line item veto, but it’s been talked about in local news, as Paul Ryan (R-Congress-Wisc) & Feingold (D-Senate-Wisc) have been working on a proposal for it together.
I think you’re right about Zero rejecting it, as it would give him a scary amount of accountability. As to whether it could ever pass constitutional muster, need to have redacted bill go back to the legislative branch for a re-vote, up or down. Accept the redacted budget bill or the bill has been vetoed in total.
