Poor Baby Obama: I Have To Make The ‘Really Hard’ Decisions
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 03/08/2009 6:30:37 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Two big stories emerged from Pres. Obama’s interview with New York Times reporters aboard Air Force One yesterday:

1. we have a whining, self-pitying president. 2. The Times scrubbed from its article the worst of the president’s comments, the ones that revealed him in that self-pitying light.

Fortunately, the Today show had the tapes, and played them this morning. According to Today, when President Obama met with reporters from the New York Times yesterday aboard Air Force One, his goal was “trying to sound hopeful and reassuring.” Mission not accomplished. As ambivalent as were the president’s putatively reassuring words on the economy, the delivery was even worse–halting and anything but assured. Be sure to view the video.

But much worse was his whining when it came to the burdens of his office:

PRES. OBAMA: I wish I had the luxury of just dealing with a modest recession or just dealing with health care or just dealing with energy or just dealing with Iraq or just dealing with Afghanistan. I don’t have that luxury, and I don’t think the American people do, either.

A bit later came this stunning statement, edited out of the Times story but broadcast by Today

Moreover, campaigning is a sort of niche work that fits the Obamassiah well, where the focus is on self and oratory, played out before large adoring crowds. It’s hard work in the way that being a rock star is hard work.

The Obamassiah is finding out out that doing well at self-promotion does not equate to an ability to competently lead and solve the problems confronting the largest, most powerful nation in the history of the planet especially at a time of economic crisis and severe international turmoil.

And by the way, Mark, this post and your blog and analysis is the reason conservatives need never more bother listening to Beltway “conservative” pundits. We here at FRee Republic consistently receive much better commentary from FRiends like you. I’m sure I speak for many when I say thanks for all you do.

Dittos - don't know how you can put up with it, Mark, but we appreciate it. Yours is the first ping I go to when I boot up the 'puter early in the a.m. out here on the Left Coast :-)

Wow—that is the nicest compliment! Many thanks.

"He can hire the best people to work under him but lacks the real world experience to make decisions based on what they advise him to do...because he is getting conflicting advice which is whole thing about being a serious executive"

Boy, have you ever nailed it here. I cannot tell you how many liberals I know (I live in NJ) have used as an excuse for his inexperience, the idea he will have seasoned experts surrounding him. When I mentioned what you have posted above, all I get is a few moments of dead silence and a lame statement along the lines of, "it will all work out" or else "He couldn't do any worse then Bush"

Yes. . and Truman never whined, in the midst of REALLY hard decisions, Truman never whined - like during some major decisions such as ending WWII with the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. (Now villified and maligned by these effete socialists and intellectuals.)

Thousands of American soldiers were on their way to Japan and Truman knew at least a hundred thousand or more of them would die if he did not put a stop to WWII. They were lined up on board ship and told, “Look at the men on either side of you. One of you three will be killed and will not be returning.” (Related by a family member on board a troop ship headed to Japan when - midway - they got the news that the bombs were dropped and that Japan had surrendered.) My Daddy had just come off years of combat, and if that war had been allowed to continue, he would have as a hardened soldier, of necessity, had to suck it up and hit the shores of Japan.

What we have in authority now has never seen such stark REALITY, and it is as unappetizing as warm puke to hear such snivelling, though the pronunciation is immaculate I suppose. (I don’t want to malign Obama; he is in authority by God’s permissive will, but I suspect strongly that all this “sudden gray hair” may well be cosmetic or washing out of pre-existing hair coloring. Just my suspicious nature I suppose.)

If the problems were easy, a community organizer would have solved them....

Community organizers don't solve problems, they increase them. Otherwise they'd be out of a job.

The empty suit in chief is also the whiner in chief.

Add that to the party-er in chief and you have a man too sleep deprived to take care of America’s business.

Bill & Hillary Clinton are just a slower walk version of the same Socialist outcome as Obama is initiating at warp speed. Bill & Hillary paved the way for such as we have now from RINOs and DEMOS.

Great point. Just like race hustlers have no interest in eliminating racism. Just the contrary.

Come to think of if, race hustling and community organizing is pretty much the same business.

Bush did it 24/7 for eight years without a whimper.

Ain't that the damn truth.

President Bush had to deal with one catastrophic event after another, and he dealt with them calmly, gracefully and with optimism, no matter how dire the situation.

Now we have this man-child in the Oval Office.

The press is groveling at his feet. The polls are inflating his numbers. His troubles (so far) have been his own making. And he whines that the job is "really hard"???

Guess you can't vote "present" when you're the leader of the free world, huh Barry?

He is seeing how far he can push the serious American people before “Whitey Busses” load up with millions of American people who have skin in this game, who have brothers, husbands, fathers who have shed blood for this country (the U.S.A. and NOT the U.S.S.A) headed for the Washington mall while they can still freely and peacefully march in protest for what he is doing to this country. . . before his “Civilian Security” brown shirts organize and take up clubs to any dissent.

Rap singers rap and 0bammi talks. Both are the same. Both are big mouths who feel best when their lips are moving.

Hillary is similar. She’s been traveling for two weeks seeing foreign leaders. More useless talk plus she is having a great time jetting around aimlessly and being out of Washington DC
