Poor Baby Obama: I Have To Make The ‘Really Hard’ Decisions
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 03/08/2009 6:30:37 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Two big stories emerged from Pres. Obama’s interview with New York Times reporters aboard Air Force One yesterday:

1. we have a whining, self-pitying president. 2. The Times scrubbed from its article the worst of the president’s comments, the ones that revealed him in that self-pitying light.

Fortunately, the Today show had the tapes, and played them this morning. According to Today, when President Obama met with reporters from the New York Times yesterday aboard Air Force One, his goal was “trying to sound hopeful and reassuring.” Mission not accomplished. As ambivalent as were the president’s putatively reassuring words on the economy, the delivery was even worse–halting and anything but assured. Be sure to view the video.

But much worse was his whining when it came to the burdens of his office:

PRES. OBAMA: I wish I had the luxury of just dealing with a modest recession or just dealing with health care or just dealing with energy or just dealing with Iraq or just dealing with Afghanistan. I don’t have that luxury, and I don’t think the American people do, either.

A bit later came this stunning statement, edited out of the Times story but broadcast by Today

Maybe he will grow up now. It is not the man who holds the presidency, it is the job that holds the man.

Years ago a college professor asked if the man made the office or the office made the man. He gave Harry Truman as an example. A no-name political hack from Missouri becomes president in the middle of a World War. He is pulled aside and has something whispered in his ear and replies "We have an Atomic what?" and then makes the hard decision to use it. After the war he bucks the Communists in Greece and ends up being one tough little bastard.

Fast forward 60 years. You gotta have something to work with to start. There's nothing but mush with Obama. One half suspects he'll soon be found in a fetal position, sucking on his thumb and whimpering for someone to "make the bad man go away".

Similar to how you never see Clark Kent and Superman at the same place and time, Governsleast and Mark never post on the same thread...

Oh my, thank you for posting that picture of President Bush. It is soooo good to have a reminder of what a real man is. I am assuming the second picture is a cartoon (and not a funny one).

Actually, I distinctly recall that Bush made mention of the difficulty of the job. Not in a whinning way mind you, but he did say it.

shudder to think how he will respond to a real crisis like an terrorist attack on the US ...

He will probably see if he can confiscate all guns in private hands or maybe round up gun owners. Or maybe call for another sti8mulus so he can have more funny money printed and funneled to his friends.

What you missed is that all 0baba has ever done is talk and theorize. He has never had an executive position and now he does. He has never even run a lemonade stand

0bammy has been a professional web spinner, a professional talker for years. He can hire the best people to work under him but lacks the real world experience to make decisions based on what they advise him to do...because he is getting conflicting advice which is whole thing about being a serious executive

He asked for the job, but if he isn’t qualified or able, he could do the country a favor and resign because I really don’t think even Biden or Pelosi could do a worse job.

“Lets be honest here. Here is a guy who hasn’t really put in a true 40-hour workweek ever in his life.”

You’ve never been on a political campaign. I have lots of opinions about the Bamster, but to say his problem is that he has never had the opportunity to develop a “work ethic” because he never worked a 40-hr week in his life isn’t one of them.

Political campaigns are 80hr/wk jobs for months on end.

Obama is clearly unprepared to be President. Shoot. We all knew that here. But not because he’s never worked a long week.

I thought it was total garbage when the drive-bys were saying that running a campaign is evidence of executive leadership. But. It actually IS evidence of the ability to put in long hours.

Maybe he needs to go on Oprah, the show that is. He really needs a hug and some affirmations. A few Stuart Smalley moments might help.

By the way- nobama is just one more shining example of why affirmative action should be stopped. A whole lotta nuthin’ going on.

That’s right. Because all the previous presidents were white and therefore (using the logic of our new AG) racist cowards who shunned the difficult decisions and left them in a heap at the feet of Obama just to make his blessed life difficult.

Obama believes he should be reigning leisurely and royally—none of this hard work garbage.

Political campaigns are tiring, but hardly challenging in the way the presidency is.

We warned about this lack of leadership during the campaign and were assured that because he could run a campaign that was spending 100’s of millions of dollars, he was a good leader. Well, now he is spending trillions of dollars, but still is not a good leader.

Well said. You might add that he is a black nationalist racist whose policy initiatives, disguised as social policy (health, energy), actively advocate wealth confiscation & transfer.

Think about that for a little bit. We're actually lucky we have shiftless punk with a suboptimal IQ as our opposition.

“Political campaigns are tiring, but hardly challenging in the way the presidency is.”

Agreed. But what is?

The point is that there are lots of criticisms to be made of Obama, but poser or not, you cannot get to that level of politics without some kind of work ethic. Even if all you’re doing is reading a teleprompter.
