FORT WALTON BEACH - A man who flies a Confederate flag on property he owns on Beal Parkway added two large signs Wednesday to express his feelings about President Barack Obama.
"January 20, 2009, A Day of Darkness, Hussen (sic)" is written on both signs, which are each about the size of a dinner table.
Before the second sign was even in the ground, someone had called the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office to ask a deputy to take a look to make sure the first sign would not "incite something."
Property owner Larry Ford said he put up the signs to share his opinion of Obama, who he refers to as "Hussein."
"We've got a man who shouldn't even be president," Ford said when reached by phone Thursday. "He's an insult to the decent, hard-working people that made this country what it is."
By Thursday night, Ford was featured on MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann as the worst person in the world.
Ford said the feedback he'd gotten in the first 24 hours was positive, but he realized there would be those who disagreed with him.
An active-duty military woman who wrote to the Daily News agreeing that the property owner had a constitutional right to express his opinion, but said she was upset that the president's middle name is misspelled.
When that was pointed out to Ford, he wasn't concerned.
"I think everybody knows who I'm talking about, don't you?" he said. "American people are the stupidest people in the world, but something like that I think they can figure out."
Local Democrat Judy Byrne Riley hadn't seen the signs but laughed when she heard about them.
"(Obama) won, get used to it," is the message she said she would send to Ford. "He is your president too, whether you agree with it or not.
"He won fair and square, unlike the election in 2000, when (George W.) Bush didn't win fair and square. And we put up with him for many, many years."
Ford said he will leave the signs up "until we get rid" of Obama.
While I personally think Mr. Ford's signs are stupid, the comments of this twit can't go unremarked upon.
Al Gore tried to steal the 2000 election, Ms. Judy Byrne Riley. W. won it fair and square. It was DEMOCRATS driving around Floriduh with Votamatics in their trunk.
I wish I had the opportunity to tell her that in person.

Sorry, but I will not do that....the flag does not represent the president, but it represents the country, and all who live here, fought and died either here or for this country...I will never take my flag down...
Put your flag back up but fly it upside down.
You still get to fly your flag AND show your objection to Obama at the same time.
With some luck, there could be competitors trying to grasp the trophy from Mr. Ford!
The only thing I blame Ford, is for not making good vehicles.
This is in my town. The property is a vacant lot along one of the main thoroughfares. The Confederate flag already made the place looks kind of tacky (it’s next to a trailer park) and this probably won’t help (with the mispellings)
Fortunately the sheriff’s office here has more to worry about, what with the sheriff being arrested this week for embezzling.

That could be a powerful sign, but the name really needs to be spelled correctly. As B.O. does not go by his middle name, it’s all the more important to spell Hussein correctly. The signmaker’s lack of being precise waters down the message for me.
This is the one I want to fly under an inverted Stars and Stripes. Guess I need to get a flagpole.
