So...How About A FreepShoot? (Vanity)
Me

Posted on 03/05/2009 4:34:48 PM PST by Lusis

A little over a week ago in a gun related thread someone mentioned the idea of Freepers getting together and going to the range.

I'm here to make a proposition. I've asked some of the leadership at the Appleseed Project and they are willing to help make this happen.

If you're unfamiliar with that organization, it was started by a man who cares very much about our heritage as Americans, our Constitutional rights, and the direction of this country. So, he and some like-minded individuals decided to do something about it.

For the last 3 years, the Appleseed Project has trained almost 4,000 people in marksmanship skills coupled with knowledge of our founding history.

Appleseed has grown to the point that on April 19th, Patriots Day, there will be 50+ Appleseed shoots across our nation. In addition to shoots happening almost every weekend year-around.

The program will also make arrangements to come to your area as long as there is sufficient interest and a safe place to shoot.

So what say you Freepers? Is this something that we can make happen?

BTW, Appleseed is run by the non-profit, Revolutionary War Veterans Association. Their main interest is preserving our American heritage of firearms training.

There’s the rub . . .

Finding targets won’t be a problem.

Not really. Appleseed already has several established locations.

That’s cool that there’s one planned in Texas.

Now how about the rest of the country? ;)

I’m in if one can be arranged within driving distance of Charlotte, NC. There have to be some Freepers at the Charlotte Rifle and Pistol Club.

The Appleseed home range is in Ramseur, NC. About an hour or so north of Southern Pines.

Nice range too, it has 400yard popups.

We are having one in Texas. I’ll find the info and link it here.

If you mean Appleseed shoots, there are 5 locations in Texas: Davilla, El Paso, Midland, Amarillo (indoors) ,and Corpus Christi. All are having April 18th/19th shoots.

Or there is the 4th Annual Texas Cowboy Memorial Shoot", October 17th, 2009 near Seagoville, TX

The North Texas FReepers are most happy to host this years annual TEXAS COWBOY Memorial Shoot.

Here's the Honoree, FReeper Texas Cowboy, formerly COB1, now Standing Post on the Streets Up Yonder.

As it says, this the 4th annual Memorial shoot. Links to the others are here

And before TC passed away, some of the Houston Area Texans(Freepers)went on "shoot about" several times, with The Man, Texas Cowboy, himself participating by bringing the grub, a grill to cook it on, and cooking it. Oh, and a Big Fifty for anyone brave enough to shoot it. :) One heck of man was TC!

They went to Dietz Range in New Braunfels and The Bullet Hole in San Antonio, where I got exposed to their Bad Influences. (Caused me to go out and buy more guns and ammo. :) See Eaker's Page for links to pictures of the events.
