If Palin is going to be the conservative leader of the future, how she navigates the economic crisis in Alaska will be a proving ground of sorts. America will be watching to see if she has the courage to implement the conservative policies she advocated on the campaign trail.
The first test comes in the form of proposed legislation to index Alaskas minimum wage. State Representative Pete Petersen recently introduced a bill that would raise the states minimum wage from $7.15 to $7.85 in 2010, $8.60 in 2011, and $9.45 in 2012. Following that, the wage rate would rise automatically to match inflation.

I wouldn’t bet against her courage...
I view Palin as a pleaser, like just about every politician. Her willingness to schmooze with her attackers is strong evidence.
She is NOT the hard-core conservative that the media painted her to be. She’ll be a lot like GWB, with some decent instincts, but unwilling to battle.
I think this opinion piece is a very fair statement. I’m a big supporter of Governor Palin and I believe she will do the right thing and not give in to the current popular sentiment. In other words, she will lead and in the process explain to her constituents why it’s a bad idea. She will shape the policy and debate.
“some decent instincts, but unwilling to battle.”
She’s already taken on the environmentalists, the animal rights activitists, and now the pro-abortion activists, not to mention has two lawsuits against the feds. I’ve seen more willingness to do battle in her than anyone else. I’ll stick with my bet that she’ll veto any such legislation.
All those numbers mean far different things than in the Lower 48.
Sir, you are clueless.
Keep on spouting that nonsense noob, and see how far it gets you on this forum.

Possible troll at #3.
An interesting observation considering her claim to fame is first taking on th corruption in her own party, then taking on the oil componies, the most powerful faction in Alaska, twice. In each case she came out on top.
The McCain campaign did not fight back at all until Palin took up the hammer and started swinging.
So, I'm curious where the "unwilling to battle" comes from.
I mean when Letterman, Leno, Oprah and Barbara Walters attacked her all through the election and then they all asked her for interviews the way she just said yes to them all like a little puppy dog. That right there should have put a flag. She totally talks like she is ready to go to a cocktail party and schmooze the night away with Couric.
I hope that doesn't need a sarcasm tag.
I second that. Within the last several months there has been a number of Gov. Palin bashing trolls posing here.
Their agenda is to plant seeds of discontent and division. They can go pound sand.
The troll squad will be making an appearance in 3...2...
The fact is the she HAS been walking the conservative TALK since she first started into the political circus. That is what makes her so dang GREAT!
Well said.
I also like your tribute to Massoud.
I second that.
The McCain campaign did not fight back at all until Palin took up the hammer and started swinging.
Then McCain, and his campaign chief, threw her under the bus.
If it had not been for Palin, Obama would have taken all 50 states. There is no way in the world I would have voted for McCain if Palin had not been on the ticket.
let's not exaggerate. Without Palin, McCain would have still probably won Oklahoma, South Carolina, and maybe Utah.
