Freerepublic.com is going to get shut down by the Secret Service for threatening President Obama's life. If it doesn't happen because of a flimsy proviso in the post discussed here, then we live in a still more dangerous world.

Nice!It took me half an hour rummaging around on your site to find that picture of TC with his own weapon. Lots of pictures of other folks with it, you (Two of 'em), your son, your daughter, Dix, etc. But I found 'er.
Hope you don't mind the use of the bandwidth, in part to "advertise" the next memorial shoot. :)

Legal options? They’re going a bit overboard on this whole “death threat” thing.

Unbelievable.
I guess this means that the Feds thought that writing books and making movies on how to assassinate Geo W Bush was okay?
This administration has absolutely no credibility.

I recognized them all, but I was on that thread and read every response. Wish I could remember the thread title.

Media Schadenfreude and Media Shenanigans PING Haven't read all of the posts but Randi Rhodes made TWO on-air death threats against President Bush on Air America, did not lose her job, and was not imprisoned.
Herr AmeriKa has no room to talk on this issue.

My comment was a defense of your mocking me I wasn't mocking you. Not at all. I just made a joke.
This is not a legal issue. It is an issue of propaganda. I am contending that there is no reason to give the other side ammunition.
I agree, but your first amendment rights are worth nothing if you don't exercise them.
He spends whole hours of his radio show explaining why on loan from God isnt a presumptuous statement.
I don't think it is a presumptuous statement. He believes in God, and believes all his talents are 'on loan from God'. Nothing wrong with that.
In the same vein, we should police our ranks and shut off non-productive talk of violence.
But we do that already. We attack posters who cross that line, and the mods pull their posts.
My post to you at #150 was simply trying to point out that "it's a Republic, if you can keep it."

I refuse to click on an AirAmerica link to read the rest of this non-story. It is like that alleged reporter who claimed that Karl rove would be indicted in "one business day." That was years ago.
These people, like Franken in Minnesota, may seem to be functioning human beings, are certifiably insane in their politics. Standing with Thomas Jefferson, I say we should not shut them up, buy rather. let them speak on, and be exposed as fools by facts on the ground.

My firewall logged a port scan from the DoD, right after I logged onto FR today. What does that mean in plain old English?

DoD is the Department of Defense. If you are being port scanned by the DoD, you might think that they are trying to monitor your activity or hack your computer. However, it is more likely to be some hacker that is spoofing the DoD's IP address.
