WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's top economic officials on Tuesday vigorously defended the administration's $3.6 trillion budget against Republican claims that it contained overly optimistic economic assumptions and included stealthy tax increases that could end up hitting most Americans.

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and White House Budget Director Peter Orszag, in separate appearances on Capitol Hill, stuck to the administration line that the president's budget would benefit 95 percent of working Americans.

Higher taxes for affluent Americans would not come until 2011 once "we are safely into recovery," Geithner told the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee.

"I'm confident this is the right path for the country," Geithner said.

I have never seen the Obama socialist stooges work so hard to white-wash the cost of radical socialism and the simultaneous destruction of our capitalist economy and our free Republic.

I wondered for a second why Arabique Presse used word “hikes”.

Because there was no way around it. Some word had to be used for “increases”, and they decided to use a word that some wouldn’t understand.

See, maybe “hikes” means “walks”. Maybe tax is going for a walking holiday under Obama.

It’s all too easy to not understand that there are many many idiots, voting idiots. They keep leftoid media in business

The Democrats want to make it look like capitalism has failed, so they will have a good pretext for ushering in full-bodied socialist collectivism. And so far, they’re doing a great job killing the economy! They’re doing such a good job, there’s no need or reason to “hope” that they fail to save the economy: Their failure is guaranteed by their own actions, which have either been excruciatingly stupid, or else diabolically clever!

The ONLY Tax hike that is EVER necessary is when the tax rate is zero and funds need to be raised to provide for the common defense and basic law enforcement and justice apparatus.

“I’m confident this is the right path for the country,” Geithner said.

This reads like satire. And if people don’t pay the taxes, Timmy?

"How we light our homes, heat our homes and pay for the gas in our cars, in every phase of our daily lives, we will be paying higher costs."

This is the key to the future for the socialists. Taxes will be buried so you can't see them. It's like your cable or phone bill now. The serfs get cranky when they know they're giving their money to the govt, so what they don't know won't hurt them. The government is like a tick that keeps burying itself deeper so you can't see it or dig it out.

"95 percent of working Americans"

It's beginning to look more and more that this "95% of working Americans" will be the 4.5 million jobs "created or retained", as that's about all the employment there will be out of the 300 million people in this country who may have jobs in this country by the time The Messiah is done!

Now that Geithner and Orszag say it will work, then I am completely convinced it will work. I will now spend every penny and get the economy moving again.
Thank God for these guys.

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism,” said Norman Thomas, a U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate in the 1940s. “But under the name of ‘liberalism,’ they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day, America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

(scratching head ) Uhhhh.. then way was it soooooo important to have them passed NOW?

And now that I think of it, 'Bush's, Tax Cuts For The Rich' expire next year. So 'The Rich' are gonna get hit with a double whammy. First in 2010, then again the following year. Yep, that'll really, REALLY, help the economy and create jobs.

Now if I was one of those 'rich', I'd be looking at property in Aruba or Bali. Someplace where the workers get paid in coconuts. For sure me and my company would be out of the USA asap.

Uh, no. the line was that 95% of Americans were going to get a tax break. Geithner isn't any more honest about this than he about his own taxes.

Why should Geithner and the rest of the rats worry about tax increases, they don’t pay taxes anyway.

"the president's budget would benefit 95 percent of working Americans."

So that means the "Welfare Queens" and other non-working elements won't be getting any money?

Heads up idiots. Look up Trickle Down economics. Thanks for the tax hike. Now I won't have the money to spend to keep everyone down line in business.

Did I remember to call you idiots?

Nothing but pure lies and distortions. The Obama team way. I thought it really could not get any worse than during the campaign — but I was wrong. You CANNOT believe ANYTHING these Marxist criminals say. Nothing.
