Thousands meet in DC to protest coal use

Orange may not be your color. But there's a good chance you won't arrested as you protest coal use in the nation's capital.
After all, Daryl Hannah will be there, with thousands of other activists, surrounding the gates of the Capitol Hill Power Plant and chanting Kumbuyah -- er, "No more coal!" and other green epitaphs.
As welovedc.com blogger Donna C. reports, Capitol Climate Action is being billed as the largest mass civil disobedience for the climate in U.S. history and has been endorsed by 100 organizations, including folks like Hannah, Paul Hawken and Will.I.Am.
On Thursday, Democratic leaders in Congress called for an overhaul of the plant, which supplies heat and A/C to the U.S. Capitol, so it could run entirely on natural gas by the end of this year -- a move organizers say is a step in the right direction.
“In terms of carbon emissions, this plant is small potatoes, but it really is a very iconic symbol,” said Matt Leonard of Greenpeace in The Taipei Times. “It can burn gas or oil or coal and people have fought very hard over the years to make sure it burns coal.”
Organizers say this could be the tipping point in the fight against coal, after years of steady activism.

Dunno. But she did say she's taking a train back her her warm Hollywood dwelling.
I saw this on TV last night and whoever the commentator was (I was falling asleep) suggested that maybe God was looking down and trying to tell them something because this has happened several times to global warming demonstrators. I fell asleep with a smile on my face thinking about that.
Actually, she's the only one that I know of that lives by what she preaches. Although, I don't subscribe to her cause, it is commendable.

She should be restricted from using air. She is definitely a detriment to life on earth.

Like the rest of us have time to take a train across the Country. What is that, nearly a week each way? Must be nice to have nothing to do cept ruin people’s lives.

During the Carter oil shortage, a popular bumper sticker in Texas was "Let them freeze in the dark!" referring to the Yankees who did not want expanded drilling, coal or nuclear power.
These people don't know the consequences of their actions. It is "Atlas Shrugged" being played out before our eyes.
Just heard her talking about climate chaos.
Now, as I sit and reflect, I don’t think the climate is any more chaotic today than it was in the 70’s or 60’s. There were terrible hurricanes, huge snowstorms, floods, droughts, etc.
These things have been pretty standard fare throughout my life.
It’s a LACK OF ACTIVITY that would be unusual.
One thing about Hannah, though, on Fox. She was articulate, and came across as a thinker. She did a good job.
I wonder if she has any thoughts on catastrophic affects on climate...such as volcanos, earthquakes, etc.
