Mark Simone just announced on his radio show that legendary broadcaster Paul Harvey has passed away. He was 91 years old. No details yet.
My mother remembers listening to him when she was a child in the ‘40’s. Mr. Harvey was on the radio a looong time.
A great piece of Americana is now past.
God speed Mr. Harvey!
I can credit him as one of three reasons for going into the AF.
R.I.P.
Paul Harvey was a great American in the tradition of Ronald Reagan. God help us that we carry on the spirit of these men. Their humor, honesty, decency and character should inspire all of us.
Must have been quite a life.
Sorry for your loss. Prayers.
It’s interesting to note the name of the President of ABC Radio...
This is the official statement on Mr. Harvey’s passing... I’ve always loved listening to his radio addresses and would myself sit in the car or try not to drive out of an AM frequency if his broadcast was on. I’ll miss him...
“DALLAS, Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ — The following is a statement from Jim Robinson, President of ABC Radio Networks, on the passing of Paul Harvey:
Paul Harvey was one of the most gifted and beloved broadcasters in our nation’s history. As he delivered the news each day with his own unique style and commentary, his voice became a trusted friend in American households. His career in radio spanned more than seven decades, during which time countless millions of listeners were both informed and entertained by his “News & Comment” and “Rest of the Story” features. Even after the passing of his loving wife Angel in May 2008, Paul would not slip quietly into retirement as he continued to take the microphone and reach out to his audience. We will miss our dear friend tremendously and are grateful for the many years we were so fortunate to have known him. Our thoughts and prayers are now with his son Paul Jr. and the rest of the Harvey family.
Jim Robinson
President, ABC Radio Networks”
Now he knows the rest of the story!
Page...two.
Rest in peace, Mr. Harvey.
“Hello Americans, I’m Paul Harvey. You know what the news is, in a minute, you’re going to hear...the rest of the story.”
I always looked forward to his stories. He will be remembered as a great American who enriched our lives as few others have ever done. He will be missed.
And what is even worse is what we're left with. Sean Penn. The Baldwins and Madonna. Rap. Just a lot of puke with no class and most without talent.
Many, if not all of his ‘Rest of the Story’ segments are timeless and could be replayed in virtually any Era and still be relevant. Maybe someone will do this.
God bless you Paul. See you...
So ... is your Freeper name “GoodDay” intentionally taken from Paul Harvey’s last word.
Now Paul can live out Page Two. RIP
Great guy...had a hard time listening to him after he opposed the Iraq War.
I’m 47 and can remember listening to Uncle Paul when I was about 12. God blessed us with him.
R.I.P. and “Good Day,” Mr. Harvey.
I listened to him when I was a kid, and he was old even then. What a unique voice. The end of an era.
