Mark Simone just announced on his radio show that legendary broadcaster Paul Harvey has passed away. He was 91 years old. No details yet.
Awww... man...
I remember my MOM putting everything on hold to listen to him.. and I left home in ‘72, so he’s been at it for longer than that.
These days, with every Tom, Dick, and Harry getting “rave reviews” by the critics before the stupid show even airs, I think it’s very safe to say we have lost a GIANT in the broadcast industry.
PH, thanks for all the wonderful stories!
I am so sorry for your loss. May God bless and comfort you.
On behalf of the Mod Squad, heartfelt condolences to you and yours.
RIP, Paul Harvey.
A great American has died.
Thank you, jellybean, for this very sad ping.
May God bless his family and may he rest in peace.
dammit. I wanted him to outlast that turd andy rooney.
Perhaps one of my favorite Rest of the Stories was about the two men that got the USA into both WWI and WWII. Roosevelt and Churchill were in charge of the secret arms shipment on the Luisitania that led to her sinking and then both were leading their country in WWII.
Hey ErnBatavia,
So sorry to hear of your loss. Losing Mom is one of the hardest things. I still have mine, but she is old. I know I have to face this someday and am not looking forward ot it.
A mother is someone who will always love, support you, defend you, when nobody else will. That’s why mothers are special.
I pray you will find comfort in coming days. Someday it will be easier to bear your loss, and your tears will become smiles, every time you think of the lessons, the love, and all she gave you.
I didn’t mean to hijack this thread, but your post moved me. My prayers are with you.
God bless Paul Harvey. He will be missed.
Very sad. I enjoyed him before Rush.
The world is a poorer place tonight.
And now we know...the end of the story. Farewell, sir. You will be missed.
Paul Harvey Aurandt
I believe he went to JOHN BROWN UNIVERSITY in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. there is a plaque on the wall honoring him.
Many years ago he gave a speech there. the students surprised him by rebuilding an old auto Paul had stored in his garage.
“I wanted him to outlast that turd andy rooney.”
He did. Andy Rooney died years ago. </s>
I still remember several Paul Harvey stories that brought me to tears and that was 35-40 years ago.
About 20-25 years ago, Mr. Harvey was warning his listeners about the problems of illegal immigration. In particular he warned about anchor babies and the implications for social services, taxes, and so forth.
Hang in there.
RIP
It was a great run.
Indeed. RIP.
