Limbaugh Rallies Conservatives to Find 'Right Candidate' (Romney wins CPAC straw poll)
Fox News ^ | February 28, 2009

Rush Limbaugh was 15 minutes early to the stage, but no one was complaining Saturday evening in Washington, D.C., at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Quite the contrary. On the conference's third and final day, the conservative talk radio host was the headliner, and the crowd greeted him with an immense ovation.

"Ladies and gentleman, this is my first ever address to the nation," Limbaugh joked, noting that FOX News and C-SPAN were broadcasting the speech live.

Limbaugh then spent his first 15 minutes giving an impassioned summary of what it means to be a conservative before turning the focus to the movement's recent electoral record.

"We can take this country back. All we need is to nominate the right candidate," he said.

The speech was the culmination of an event that featured often fiery speeches by some of top names of the conservative movement and the Republican party, including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and conservative commendator Ann Coulter.

You have that right!

The election in 2010 is truly the most important election we are going to face, and we have to make a good showing. I come on here and every day there are articles about the 2012 race mostly about Romney and frankly I sick and tired of even a straw poll being taken for 2012. That race is too far away to worry about right now. I am sick of seeing anything about Presidential campaigns.

I want to win a lot of seats in the House and take back some Senate seats. We lost seats in 2006 and 2008 we never should have lost. Time to take them back and the groundwork has to start today.

“After hearing Rush, I’m thinking of wearing my 2001 RECALL MC CAIN shirt again.”

You reminded me of something, I still have my T-shirt with Reagan’s image, and the slogan “Remember When We Had a Real President?.

Reading this thread only reminds of the pathetic state the republican party is in. Now I’m really depressed.

"What has happened to the GOP since Rush started being a political commentator?"

So you're laying the shortcomings of Presidents Bush 41 & 43, the pork-addicted, spineless GOP congresses, Senator John McCain, GOP state/local officeholders and Republican lobbyists on Rush Limbaugh? Please explain.

What has happened to the GOP since Rush started being a political commentator?

Well they took control of Congress for the first time in a generation and they elected a two term president who could hardly talk. What else do you think he should have helped them do?

They fell on hard times after getting too big, fat, stupid, and arrogant for their britches; but that wasn't Rush's fault. He went hoarse warning them, but they wouldn't listen.

Maybe you think you could do better. Fine. Go knock yourself out, Chief.

You are wrong, very wrong. You are now complaining about the open door after the barn is empty.

The election of 2008 was the most important and rather than get out and work to prevent Obama, conservatives chose to carp and bitch and moan about how pure they were.

Rather than get out and work to defeat Obama they apathetically did nothing.

On CNN their chief political reporter was claiming Rush went over the line by impugning President Obama’s motives (ie: it’s a power grab with a desire to totally remake the country in an European socialist mold.) He didn’t cross any line but what do you expect out of Bill Schneider and CNN?

Romney was behind the astronomical health care plan in MA that almost bankrupt the state.**

I rest my case. Refer to the tagline. God bless.

Here we go again. Selecting Romney is the same mistake again, he can not win because he does not excite the party. Sarah Palin does. We just have to not only stand behind her but in front of her too when the media lies are spewed and every elected Republican should be in front of a camera defending her and calling the media the liars that they are. We must destroy the media first, they are our biggest enemy.
