Check out the video below, where WKYC investigative reporter Tom Meyer spoke with Greg Steffey, whose wife, Hope Steffey called 911 after she was assaulted by her cousin. Things took a turn for the worst when the police arrived and treated Hope as the perpetrator. She was arrested, taken to jail, and subjected to a humiliating full-body strip search by both male and female officers, violating the sheriff department's own policy that a strip search be conducted by an officer of the same sex. Hope was then left naked in a cell for six hours. Included in the news segment was video footage of the strip search....

Just goes to show that when the revolution starts the first place to go is to neutralize your local police department, unless they have a proven track record of being actuality on the job and have earned respect.
Looks like she hauled off and punched the cop in the face.

Police do this stuff EVERY DAY in this country and as long as we stand aside and justify the bad behavior it will never ever stop
Bullsh!t. The problem is in the recruiting, training and supervision and management of the departments. The departments must contingent train for every possible, not just probable, scenario and develop a response or reaction plan that needs to be reviewed and approved by legal counsel. The plans must then be formally tested, trained and reviewed at regular intervals. This might require more training hours and more trainers taxing the department's budget but if they forgo the Armored Personnel Carriers, SWAT training, Night Vision equipment, they can probably afford it. In any event, it would have been cheaper than the legal fees and damages this instance is going to cost the tax payers.
Well, she clearly disrespected the officer by flicking her shoe in his general direction. I’m sure she deserved it. /s
I don’t want anyone to be abused by the police. Abusive cops should be fired and prosecuted. But my post was from a different prospective- shoddy journalism. Even with the Rodney King beating, the media reported he had been drinking, he was fleeing from the cops, he was abusive and initially resisted. According to this news story, a confused cop arrested an innocent “victim” and then abused her for no reason. The report was smirky, sanctimonious and dishonest. The reporter didn’t ask one damn question- ie: Who called the cops? Was your wife drinking?
Comon, my friend this is the Police force your neighbors want... Sorry to have to be the guy to break this to you. If you don’t believe me talk about this in polite society.
Do you know if she’s filed criminal charges against them for sexual assualt/battery? From what I’ve seen that would be completely justified.
Horse manure. Trial lawyers have nothing to do with this whatsoever. The problem lies in criminal thugs being given a badge.
Sit on a jury in Philadelphia.
The cops know that. That's why they all want paramilitary gear. And Bambi's gonna buy it for them.
Shameful! To defend and protect seems to have gotten a tad out of hand. I wonder if these are thy types who will burst into your home, when the Pontus demands your firearms. The time is fast approaching when a call to arms will be made and the “change” truly will take place.
>> this is the Police force your neighbors want... If you dont believe me talk about this in polite society.
Yep.
That’ll change in a couple years, however. Neighbor will be whispering to neigbor all the time about police brutality. So many things will be illegal! So many things... it’ll be nearly impossible to be a “law abiding citizen”.
The police will be a constant presence in our neighborhoods, and it won’t be to protect us or our property from crimes, it’ll be to make sure we’re living the way the State wants us to.
I'm with you. The victim was charged with crimes. Does she think the 5th amendment applies to her. Hell, she should just up and confess to Oprah.
Were you around in 1950? Nothing has really changed.
God help you if you were a Black Man in South Carolina in the 50’s. Or a Jew, or a Catholic
Can any of the legal scholars on FR point out the constitutional authority for police and police departments?
10th amendment
Tenth Amendment restates the Constitution’s principle of Federalism by providing that powers not granted to the National government nor prohibited to the states are reserved to the states and to the people.
Your neighbors want this.
She has them dead in the water pursuant to 42 USC 1983. The City and its police department will NEVER let this lawsuit proceed to trial. They will be begging this woman to settle with them.
It should always be legal to video/audio record public officials in the performance of their public duties.
