I took a few minutes out of lunch to go check out the crowd at today's Tea Party in downtown Orlando. I'm guessing there were about 100 people there. I took pictures, and hopefully I'm going to post them correctly for you.
From what I could gather the organizer was Jason Lloyd and a friend of his, pictured in colonial dress with the flag. I thought Jason did a good job of addressing the group.
The first order of business was to open in prayer and then we all said the Pledge of Allegience. Jason then discussed the reason for meeting and did a good job of repeating his theme, "Repeal or Retire!". A direct message to the Congress that passed Porkulus, "Repeal this spending or we will retire you in 2010!"
The local news, Channel 13, which is affiliated with the Orlando Sentinel, showed up and did a report from there. I will be interested to see their coverage given how over the years the Sentinel has moved further and further left.
Everyone there knew about the March 21st Tea Party and all said they would be there too. I am expecting there to be a much bigger turn out for that event since it is getting a lot more publicity than this one did.
Wonderful pictures....encouraging!!
Good job!
i will try to make the 3/21 event
Hey, I’m on the internet . . . (Long hair, blue shirt, purple tie, orange horseshoes. ok, I made the last part up.)
Wish I had known. Was thinking about loudly asking if there were any FReepers there, but I’m not really a speak-up kind of person. I hang out and watch and participate when directly asked to....usually. :)
I was thinking I wonder if there are freepers here . . but I didn’t ask.
bump
Keep up the good work, and keep the pressure on. Our freedom is at stake.
Nice job on on the ground reporting..thanks..
Hey, who's that gorgeous hunk on the side of the picture. Dark hair, dark blue shirt, black pants? Arms folded, glasses. Looks like he's from Boston? I'd sure like to marry him. ;-)
Me too . . . me too!
Is Tampa having another protest any time soon. My daughter wants to know and I may come with her. We’re about 40 miles away in Polk County.
100 people showing is GOOD!
That’s right. This one was not the one that he talks about on his program.
Since you were there too, did you ever figure out who the second guy to speak was? I had moved to the back of the group by then and I couldn’t hear him and someone in the audience had struck up a conversation with me so I didn’t try to get closer.
