No. AIDS Research shares an hysterical political component with Global Warming and the CO2 Theory, but there is one major difference.

In AIDS Research, there is some basis in real-world science. People die from AIDS, or more likely from the opportunistic infections which it invites. No such luck with Global Warming or "Greenhouse Gases. " More people died at Chapaquiddick than from Global Warming. More people were found dead at Marcy Park than from CO2 Emissions.

It’s OK. No problem. Industry will be taxed the confiscatory fees necessary to eliminate Global Warming, and cut the deficit Obama “inherited” from Bush.

It is entirely targeted at the productive. Energy lies at the heart of every single industrial and service endeavor. Increasing energy costs by imposing a carbon tax and by reducing the available supplies of energy (saying no to drilling, trying to eliminate coal, etc.) will add costs to every single good or service produced. Added to this are the increased costs of heating water, heating and cooling houses. All of this means more money will be used to pay for this, leaving less money for the consumer to spend on everything else, meaning that he will buy less, meaning that fewer products will be sold, meaning that fewer products will have to be produced, meaning that fewer people will be needed to produce those products, meaning greater unemployment or reduced wages.

And like every tax, it decreases disposable income. Less money circulating in the economy means more unemployment. That will require more taxes to cover the government unemployment largess.

Personally, I think of this as opportunity. Think of CO2 absorbing technologies - invent or identify them - set up CO2 trading and make money the old fashion way - using government extortion
