The Obama administration will seek to reinstate the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 during the Bush administration, Attorney General Eric Holder said today.
"As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons," Holder told reporters.

The sale of a firearm in the US has no relation to the problems of Mexico! The AK 47 full auto is the weapon of choice down there. And retailer can’t sell those in the US.
They get them from China and other countries.

The statement that they want to "reiinstitute" the ban on "assault weapons" is, itself, a bold faced lie.
What they want is something like H.R. 1022, which is far more draconian than the old "assault weapons" ban. I.E., H.R. 1022 would allow the the A.G. to ban virtually any firearm, on a whim:
`(L) A semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General. In making the determination, there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any Federal law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a firearm shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event.'.
Exactly. You'd think he's have passed a few more items of his agenda before he hands congress to the Republicans over symbolic gun control legislation that few Democrat voters are even asking for.

I was wondering if this was the idea behind all the gun banning brouhaha. Especially if Obabma creates his ‘civilian militia’ that I heard him mention at one time.

Go out on the web today and try to find any 7.62X39 and likely you will find that just about everyoone is sold out and “backordered” But hey, not a problem. You can go get some in Mexico.....
Call your congressmen and senators.
There are Dems from moderate districts and states...that are very nervous about this. They know it will cost them their seats.
Let them know. Go write letters to papers in their areas.
