But for the next year and a half, the center of Romney's political universe will shift west to Sacramento, where key parts of his operation have reassembled on behalf of Meg Whitman, a longtime friend and former business colleague ....
The former eBay CEO is still readying her headquarters, but it has already become something of a campaign-in-exile for Romney's ambitions, which could include another presidential run in 2012....
"Mitt's going to be involved in dozens and dozens of races, but one that he's particularly excited about is the race for governor of California," said Eric Fehrnstrom, a Romney spokesman....
A Whitman victory could deliver Romney a valuable foothold in a state that will likely be a big, early prize on the Republican nominating calendar. Her 2010 campaign will also offer a...
Romney and Whitman both harshly criticized the $787 billion stimulus package championed by President Obama and congressional Democrats, saying it includes too much bloated spending and not enough tax cuts. Whitman is also railing against the plan, signed into law yesterday, of tax increases and spending cuts to plug California's $42 billion budget deficit, saying in a statement it "will kill jobs, hurt families, and make future deficits worse."

No..
Since you're willing to support candidates who are pro-abortion, obviously, you're on the wrong political forum.
Thanks for exposing your real motives.
This is how we ended up with McCain.
A lot of us think it would have been as bad if not worse had we ended up with Romney. I'll tell you this -- Romney would not have gotten my vote in a pres election regardless of his running mate; at least McCain got my vote because of Palin.
You labor under a severe illusion if you don't realize that a hell of a lot of conservatives think Romney is as bad, or worse, than McCain.
Real motives? Yes, getting that liberal to move over to the RAT party where he belongs!
“You labor under a severe illusion if you don’t realize that a hell of a lot of conservatives think Romney is as bad, or worse, than McCain.”
That`s your illusion because all the exit polls showed otherwise. Go do some research and you`ll realize that conservatives flocked to romney but were outnumbered by moderates and liberals.
He’s pro abortion....nuf ced.
I thought he was going to spend the next four years convincing folks that he is a conservative.

The Mittwits always take a single issue with Mutt and try to say “just forget that issue”.
What they REFUSE to admit is the Mutt has too freaking many of those issues!
Abortion, queer agenda, anti-gun, socialist healthcare...
Mutt is a far left liberal!
It's already been 10 years, since our current governor is not genuinely a Republican. I absolutely hate the extremely over-used acronym RINO. With so-called real conservatives constantly searching the political beach for a "RINO" under every grain of sand, it's lost all practical, useful meaning. Yet the term was coined precisely to describe people like Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is a Republican only in the sense that, for some unfathomable reason, he registered to vote as one.
In any case, your point is well taken.
Romney IS a moderate liberal. Your exit poll data makes zero sense.
And I can assure you that the number of Conservatives on FreeRepublic far out paces the mods and libs, DU trolls and paid (and unpaid) Romneybots not with standing..
Pseudo cons, yes.
Around FR Romney received very little support from FReepers. Mostly, Willard garnered the Rockefeller Republicans who had no place to go once Giuliani departed the race.
