"DURHAM -- The legislative agenda proposed by the Durham City Council on Monday included measures that would restrict handgun ammunition sales and increase the costs of registering a car." ... ...snip ... "Durham's resolution on ammunition sales is a simplified version of the "Bullet Ownership Bill" promoted by Durham minister Melvin Whitley. It would modify existing state laws to allow handgun-ammunition sales only to those holding a pistol purchase or concealed weapons permit."

What about 22LR and other cartridges that can be used in both handguns and rifles/shotguns?
Looks like online and private ammo sales are gonna be the way to go for NC residents.
My dad gave me a pistol 30 years ago. I don’t have a purchase permit.
Won’t this start a blackmarket on ammo?
Guess the dims want a cut of that also.
How will that work out for all the people that own rifles that shoot handgun ammo?
357,44 mag, yes, they even make 9mm handgun cartridge shooting rifles.
That’s a good reason to stock up now. The Legacy “transfer” to ones progeny and future progeny.
It amazes me that so many people think we are NUTZ for buying ammo..
We are buying it because we probably won’t be able to buy it in 3-5 years without jumping through all kinds of hoops and paying out the @$$!.
That is why the shelves are empty you liberal morons!!!!
That’s weird? Why would the Law be concerned about those who are “buying in bulk?”
Since when is that against the law?
I ordered some from Sportsmanguide.com and told them that since I am deployed to Afghanistan to ship it back-ordered. However, better to have it ordered BEFORE they serial # each round and make it perishable.
I see a “round tax” of around 500%, a mileage tax, a fire place chimney tax (carbon footprint and all), an Oxygen tax (gotta tax you for not aborting your ‘mistakes’), and a host of other taxes. Add to this new porkibus government registration offices to make you buy licenses for everything and get permission to procreate, breath, live, and work.
Death will still be free for the deceased, but the family will be taxed.
Somebody needs to stand up and say,
“If some so-called ‘minister’ proposes something, it’s GOT to be a bad idea!”...
and watch the liberals’ heads explode.
I lived in Durham for about 5 years. I moved out when my wife couldn’t go to the main (downtown) library because the dope dealers had taken over the steps to the building (w/o interference from the police.
Durham is NC’s equivalent of New Orleans. Completely disfunctional, incredibly liberal (Duke U.) and totally disgusting. Kids just out of college move there because it’s “gritty”. When they get mugged trying to go the movies, they move out.
Though I have little hope today, perhaps the remaining legislators for NC will dump this bill.
Remember, leftists think one single shot rifle is an "assault rifle" and constitutes and "arsenal".
“Please make sure you bring your government issued certification in order to purchase ammo.”
AND your ration card.
be afraid. one example of a handgun manufactured in a given calibre can make it a “handgun” calibre. yup, .223, .243, .308. .30-06, .45-70.. thanks to thompson, these can all be considered handgun bullets.
don’t expect common sense to come into play when gun control is an issue.
Is “Durham Minister Melvin Whitley” of an ethnic persuasion?
It took Aim surplus almost 2 weeks before shipping my 7.62x54R ammo. At A1 Ammo, they shipped my same caliber ammo the day after I ordered.
Its about the incremental disarmament of the civilian population by doctrinaire pacifists with the end goal of total abolition of all weapons.
They look to England as their guide.
