What Sarah should do
2/25/2009 | ventana

Posted on 02/25/2009 5:20:09 AM PST by ventana

Like kick the can, the media will play its usual noisy game today.

Obama scored, Obama won, poll numbers rising. The clatter will be deafening. But as the din subsides over the next few days, a sinking feeling in the pits of the stomaches of ordinary Americans will mirror the sentiment on Wall Street.

This is a carpe diem moment. This should be the moment Sarah Palin makes a self-directed foray into a forum of her own choosing.

She should boldly grab the spotlight, and, by using YouTube, address the American people. She can create her own bully pulpit.

Handlers may tell her to wait, but that would be a misstep. This is a watershed moment, and the American people want to hear from a leader who is commonsensical, who is no-nonsense. We want to hear from someone who has a vision for this country that is optimistic and unselfconsciously informed by a spirituality which is palpable.

Sarah has this in spades.

She should refuse to engage the media like she would Ebola.

But she should look us square in the eye and talk to us. A townhall forum would be ideal. Questions from the audience would create the sense that small town America is a partner with her in this conversation.

We realize she's not Condi Rice, or Henry Kissinger, or Hillary Clinton, or even Barak Obama.

That's not what we are looking for. It is exactly that polished and slick political type who will not resonate with responsible Americans right now. Responsible Americans, those who have to foot the bill, would like to hear from somebody a lot like them. An individual who shares their concerns and is able to express their concerns, an individual with a vision that seems a lot more patriotic and consistent with the Constitution for which many brave forefathers fought and died for, that is who American looks for now.

In fact it is Sarah, plain spoken and honest who should grab attention with a conversation absolutely free from the hyperbole of over promise and under deliver that so disgusts us.

Bobby Jindahl gave a pleasant speech last night; but it was not compelling. America needs and waits for a genuine conversation. So Sarah, step in to the spotlight.

We'd like to talk with you.

Good idea, sarah would pull it off.
But, Sarah is the Govenor of Alaska, that Executive level position is her job.
She needs to work for the people of Alaska!
Sarah’s time will come, and at that future time, our lives will improve

“Put up or shut up.”

You are a piece of work.
I don’t get to decide who runs, and who doesn’t. Neither do you. I’m just observing that Palin, with her current image, isn’t viable. There have been suggestions as to how she could repair her image, getting out in front as the counterpoint to Obama isn’t it.
It’s 09, we still have a year before we have to surface someone as a candidate, (sadly, the election cycle is that freakin’ long now).

IMHO you’re drop dead correct; Repubs aren’t going anywhere in this country with another polished empty suit from fly over country.

“You’re nothing but a nay-sayer.

Get out of the way.”

You’re nothing but a slobbering fanboy.
Quit annoying people who want to think.

“she’s trying to be supportive because that’s the smart play. “

And that’s exactly why Gov. Jindal gave a subdued speech last night. Right now is honeymoon time with the president, as with all presidents. It’s all about unity right now, but 0bama’s luster is wearing off already. It’ll soon tarnish away to a point where conservative leaders like Palin, Jindal et al can draw the sharp battle lines and go on the attack. It’s all strategic messaging.

As long as you guys call her by her first name only then she is going no where.

The media did NOT destroy Gov. Palin! Granted, they threw everything they could find, or make up, at her, but she is alive and well. Have patience.

“It seems clear you are a Romney flunkie.”

It’s crystal clear you are lacking in the ability to think critically. This thread is about Palin. I’ve made observations about Palin. I have not mentioned other candidates.

You don’t just have issues, you have a subscription.

“But being the Whack-A-Mole Governor now would be irritating to the voters.”
* * *

Yep, she’ll bide her time, wait for Zero and his policies to implode, and point out the fallacies and failures of his policies at the appropriate time.

“As long as you guys call her by her first name only then she is going no where.”

Great point. Did you notice after my first post I swtiched from “Sarah”, to “Palin”. A simple thing like that matters. There have been studies, they pointed that early in integration of baseball, they referred to white players by last name, black by first name.
Using someone’s first name at this level tends to make them seem smaller.

But, you do have the fanboys to contend with here.

Giving Obama enough rope to hang himself is her best bet. It will come to pass soon enough that people will awaken to the disaster Obama has become.

Every conservative is damaged goods, or will be shortly, when it comes to the national media.

The MSM and their thug handlers in the democrat party are AFRAID of Sarah Palin; they see that Palin REALLY IS AN ORDINARY AMERICAN and really does speak truth to power... and as such, she connects with ordinary Americans.

To abandon her for someone the media hasn’t “discovered” yet is to roll over for the democrat party. It is a far, far better idea to fight that bully, take it head on and kick the living dog $hit out of it, than to cave in... again.

Ya don't think she would have made her own speech, with different emphasis and content?

No I don't. I think Jindal gave the speech the RNC told him to give, with a few personal features added in. I doubt Palin would have done any better.

I also think it's clear by the way that Palin is being frozen out of responding to presidential speeches and addresses that the RNC leadership doesn't think much of her. If she makes a run for the nomination in 2012 then I think she'll be fighting them as well as the dozen or so opponents she'll get in the primaries.

I guess Abe, Teddy and Ike were also going nowhere... (let's leave out Hillary!).

Sarah means that she is one of us, that she isn't aloof and that we feel a special bond to her. It expresses appreciation and closeness, not diminution and contempt.

But we got our butts handed to us in the last election

Conservatives were shut out of this election.

We didn't have a candidate.

It is a losing battle to convince people to call her with her last name.
