Live thread.
I think some people on this thread ARE Obama voters.
“You’ve got to be kidding. Palin is more upbeat, has a better personality, and delivers a far more effective speech. Her communication skills are vastly superior to Jindal’s. There’s no comparison. Jindal has a lot of work to do if he wants to catch up to Governor Palin. “
I agree but when it comes to media interviews, Jindal wins no doubt about it.
Explain WHY she isn’t presidential? And if you use the Couric interview as your reason, you are a rank amateur and need to go back to school.
Couldn’t disagree more. Jindal was articulate and comfortable in a very tough situation. He will be destroyed by PravdABDNC attack machine for the fact that he is a conservative minority. He covered all the points that matter, small gummit, corruption and energy. Hit all out very solidly.
Pray for America
"Jejune"?
Oh, man! That's a five-dollar William Buckley word! I love it.
Say it again.
I think you hit the difference. He spoke for me too. I liked what I heard especially his optimism and that of his Dad from the time his parent arrived in this Country.
Also thought his ancedot on Katrina was telling about the bureaucrats which said he dislikes bureaucracy as much as I do.
America would be very fortunate to have him as President. I appreciate how he looked straight into the camera tonight and just talked to us. He is the anti-Obama medicine for me.
Palin is a Lamborghini Countach; Jindal is a Hyundai Excel. Suit yourself.
I like Sarah. But part of the reason people lined up for her is because of who she was running against.
why because she didn’t expect an ambush, remember she went from a state pol to a national figure overnight.
McConnell’s Response [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
Tonight Kentuckians and all Americans were proud eyewitnesses to history as an African-American president addressed a joint session of Congress for the first time.
Over the years, there have been many important markers in our nations long journey toward racial equality. Few have been as compelling as seeing President Obama in the Speakers rostrum tonight.
The Presidents message was important and timely: America faces great challenges in the months and years ahead, and I was heartened to hear of his commitment to the millions who are struggling to hold onto homes and jobs and who are worried about what the future holds for themselves and their children.
As we work to address all these concerns, we will have our differences. Republicans believe the road back to prosperity is paved with greater personal freedom, not bigger government, and that in this moment of economic hardship, we should be more vigilant about spending taxpayer dollars, not less.
But one thing is clear: working through the current troubles will require a shared commitment as we address Americas challenges ahead.
You’ve got to be kidding; great oratory goes with the job; Bobby is a sweeite, but “that ain’t it, kid, that ain’ it! He is not presidential. V’s wife.
I’m not giving up on Jindal either. His politics are solid and good, he just needs a little help in learning how to deliver a message.
if Jindal was running against O they would have left half his best answers on the cutting room floor like they did with Sarah
In the end, GWB was not the best of “orators” but he was indeed better than Jindal was tonight. It came off as condescending and did sound like Gore (as another poster noted). I don’t doubt that he can do better, it was just rough outing.
You nailed it rince, the antis are either Romneyites or plants who want to destroy our best candidates for the master.
Pray for America, Our Troops and Bobby
Some people are on here and they know who they are as they pretend to be conservatives. If you haven’t figured that out then if the shoe fits wear it.
As one who graduated at the top of my class and one who got the full nerd-treatment at the hands of the “beautiful people”, remember, there *are* rewards down the line:
- I now have a good job at a great company.
- I went to college for free.
- I went to graduate school for free.
- I have zero debt.
- I’ve saved two years’ salary.

Earning six figures helps my psyche too, of course (wink).
America would be very fortunate to have him as President. I appreciate how he looked straight into the camera tonight and just talked to us. He is the anti-Obama medicine for me.
That's right, KevinDavis! And remember how the media trashed Reagan's Mr. Rogers-like speaking style? I admit Bobby Jindal needs to do better next time, but what shone through was his optimism about America and her people...
