In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1).
The question of the age of the earth has produced heated discussions on debate boards, classrooms, TV, radio, and in many churches, Christian colleges, and seminaries. The primary sides are:
*Young earth proponents (biblical age of the earth and universe of about 6,000 years)1
*Old earth proponents (secular age of the earth of about 4.5 billion years and a universe about 14 billion years old)2
The difference is immense! Lets give a little history of where these two basic calculations came from and which worldview is more reasonable...

Oh. Thanks for clarifying that.
. . . and when He said, “This is my body . . . “ he didn’t *really* mean it. It was an idiomatic expression. But then in Genesis where He says on the first day . . . well, we *have* to take *that* literally.
Keep in mind the target audience of the Bible at the time it was written.
That link was posted to me. I can only assume, the person that provided the link has not a clue what they posted.
lol..
Only until he gets his final calling ...
We took our 10 year old a couple of weeks ago. In the fossil section, I explained to him how dating of soils and objects works scientifically. His reply was, "What if science is wrong?"
Two minutes later he was totally outraged by a penguin being in the Garden of Eden because penguins don't live in the middle east.
He doesn't believe anyone apparently.
Wait until spring or summer to make the trip. There is a nice restaurant with outdoor seating which overlooks a lake and botanical gardens. I imagine it's a lovely spot to contemplate God's creations.
You are right. I should just have faith in your age of the earth.
“The Universe was created two days before Adam.”

I lurk on these threads and keep my posting to other topics, but the question i have is:
do we know if these are 24 hour “days” referred to in Genesis?
The billionaires accuse the newlyweds of gross calendar inaccuracies.
But then again how long is a day when there is no light, and all is void?
24 hrs???? LOL Prove it!
From you link!
"Keep an eye on those creationists! They will switch tracks faster than you can say "tiddlywinks." One moment they're talking about the radioactive decay of the nuclides involved in geochronology, and, in the next moment, they're passing out examples of IC decay in stable isotopes. "
The estimates of the age of the earth have been shifting for a long time. Generally, they have shifted in the direction of implying great age. What happens is you get more and more items (fossils, geologic layers, radiometric dating) that all agree on one thing -- that the universe is MUCH older than 6000 years.
From your link!
“R1. The above is offered as a simple fact of research. Knowing how faulty creationist “facts” can be, let’s do a little research of our own. One suspects that the scientific world would not be using the carbon-14 method if it were so obviously flawed. Could it be that the whole scientific community has missed this point, or is it another case of creationist daydreaming?”
"Ten minute."
Why did it take 24 hours and why did God need to rest?
Yes, but why not provide the facts instead of trying to refute a creationist study because he is a creationist.
Here is another link showing that dating the earth is not easy and very fallible, and the argument is an evolutionist vs creationist argument, and not a fact of dating the earth.
Unbelievers who are scientists try to prove their theory because it discounts the Bible, and the study being debunked was in a grey rectangle which claims the earth is less than 10,000 yrs old. The less than 10,000 yrs old was a study done at Yale University, but I am unsure of the year...it was in a book I read yrs ago, but now they have new professors who are of the evolution group...so the argument continues!
I choose to believe the study done at Yale Univ shortly after computers were able to continue the formula out farther than ever had ever been done before....making it less than 10,000 yrs old.
Each creation day is defined as having an evening and a morning, so the length of each day was obviously meant to convey a normal solar evening and a normal solar morning (i.e. the time it takes the Earth to make one full rotation).
Okay, thanks. i asked because i once heard someone query what if the length of each day during the Creation was actually much longer than a normal day.
Whut if he DID?
Just because you can't comprehend something, doesn't invalidate any part of it. The world doesn't go away just because you close yer eyes/mind, and you know it!
What are the odds that the next lungful of air you breath will contain an atom or two that George Washington breathed? Molecular dispersement is a FACT. aka soylent greene is people.
Think of how much there is that we will never know, even if we think we do.

Actually, Creation Scientists are looking at the EXACT SAME EVIDENCE, and conclude that the Earth is quite young.
Actually, Creation "Scientist" start with the assumption that the earth is 6,000 years old and then distort their writings to come to that conclusion. Go look at some of their sites. They REQUIRE their 'scientists' to sign an oath that all research will support that the earth is 6,000 years old! I guess if you want to stay employed by them, you give them the results that they want, evidence be damned.
