In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1).
The question of the age of the earth has produced heated discussions on debate boards, classrooms, TV, radio, and in many churches, Christian colleges, and seminaries. The primary sides are:
*Young earth proponents (biblical age of the earth and universe of about 6,000 years)1
*Old earth proponents (secular age of the earth of about 4.5 billion years and a universe about 14 billion years old)2
The difference is immense! Lets give a little history of where these two basic calculations came from and which worldview is more reasonable...

You wanted a source, I gave you your own words. It is enough for now that I showed that YOU wanted evolution out of the public school system.
What's that got to do with this statement that you made and I asked for sources to back yourself up?
CW post 258:You want to shut down science and I am content with your having your own beliefs both in private and in public schools and you say you need protection from me? Unbelievable!
I missed it. Any links?
Simple. I do not desire to remove religious classes from the public school system nor put any restrictions on what is taught in churches. You, OTOH, want to remove evolution from the public school system and replace it with your biblical beliefs.
You claimed that I wanted to shut down science in the public schools. I wanted a source to support that comment of yours. What does that comment about evolution have to do that comment on *shutting down science*?It is enough for now that I showed that YOU wanted evolution out of the public school system.
It's not enough because you aren't even answering the question. Setting up a strawman and knocking it down isn't answering the question.
Is there an evo around that can do something as simple as actually answer the real question put to them?
Sources? Where did I say that?
Show me the post.
Evolution is science. You want to remove evolution from public schools and replace it with the belief that the earth is 6000 years old?
I posted your exact words. Are you denying that you said that?
The Darwinists must be looking for jack boots under choir robes.
You tell me. You're the one claiming that that's what I want. Show me where I said that.
Provide some sources for it or own up to the fact that that comment is a lie.
I am not claiming you said that. I am stating that you said that and wondering why you are not owning up to saying that. Remember who is watching!
That's a matter of opinion. Evolution is based on forensic evidence. It does not work well with the scientific method as the levels of change claimed cannot be tested and have never been observed.
Conflating *evolution* and *science* is intellectually dishonest. They are not interchangeable terms. Evolution does not equal all of science and all of science does not equal evolution.
The only way that those terms could be interchanged is if they've been redefined and stuck in the List-O-Evodefinitions that used to be posted on this forum so often.
What field was your degree in again?
Yeah, it’s that hysteria over theocracy thing again.
You seem upset that I might put these words up as your position. Do you agree or disagree with your previous words?
Those who need the ToE for their chosen career fields can take it at the college level. The only reason to push it in high school to kids who are never going to need it, is to push an ideology on them.
Degrees. Nuclear Engineering.
What field was your degree in again?
Let’s get to the really question: Lace up or slip on?
LOL! You offer no proof at all. How could you prove that the Bible is not something God put in place to fool me, in the same way that young-earthers claim dinosaur fossils were placed?
Some folks insist on reading very literally into the Bible something that should not be read that way. Their own beliefs are important to them than are the mysteries to which the Bible often speaks -- creation being foremost among them.
Nope, you are accusing me of something and need to back it up.
In post 284 you said...You, OTOH, want to remove evolution from the public school system and replace it with your biblical beliefs.
In post 287 you said You want to remove evolution from public schools and replace it with the belief that the earth is 6000 years old?
In both cases, you said that I want to remove evolution from the public schools and replace it with something I believe. Back it up or own it as a lie.
BTW, (not that reminding you of the facts will make any difference to you), but my comment about not teaching evolution in the schools was in reference to the fact that no one creation account should have precedence over another. Evos always claim that if we teach the Judeo-Christian creation account, then we should teach all of them. Since that's unrealistic and we can't manage that, why then we should only teach the ToE.
My question is why the TOE should have precedence over all the other creation accounts. By the evos own reasoning, since it's unrealistic to teach ALL of them, we should teach NONE of them, the atheist and secular humanist one as well.
Meteorology.
