“China says three Chinese crew members were rescued and seven were missing.”

Missing/detained-to-be-tortured = both interchangable phrases in the Communist rulebook.

Cool. Maybe they can get off 1000 rounds on the next target.

This should do wonders for Chinese-Russian relations.

China called on Russia on Thursday to explain how a Chinese cargo ship sank in Russian waters after reports it was fired on by the Russian military.

Well, it got a bunch of holes in it and a lot of water leaked in until the average density of the ship became too great. Then it sank.

The gun. It was stuck in ON position. Endagered fish was in area. So ve had to aim gun at ship so as not to inadvertantly hit one.

DA! Dat is ticket!

Have at it, boys.
Those two coming top blow would be an answer to prayers (of a sort).

The even better news is that all US subs in the area managed to move out of the way of the sinking ship.

“We kept firing until it sank. But that’s not important right now.”

China called on Russia on Thursday to explain how a Chinese cargo ship sank in Russian waters after reports it was fired on by the Russian military.

The "New Star" was held at the Russian port of Nakhodka earlier this month, suspected of involvement in smuggling, before it left without permission last week, the China Daily said,

Seems pretty straight forward to me. The Chinese ship was suspected of smuggling and taken into port. It htne tried to escape without permission and the Russian Navy opened fire.

Hey, they were detained and tried to make a run for it. What did they expect other than the classic “shot in the back while trying to escape” treatment?

Mmm, sounds pretty simple to me: Holes from 500 rounds of expended ammunition allow the ship to take on lots of water. i’d bet they’re pretty BIG holes.

Probably not quite what they wanted to know.

The crew may get handed over to the Chinese, where they will dissappear...

Before anyone even try to blame the captain to leave the russkie dock without permission:

Go ask anyone who get some personal experience in doing business with Russians, you will know how corrupt those russikes are, basically their business is run by mafia and corrupt politicans, I bet the cause of this business dispute is most likely caused by the un-controlled corruption of the russian side, I guess the russians just try to force you to bribe them anyway.

And dont forget its not cheap if your ship is sitting in dock everyday due to the rent, not to mention the loss caused by losing business opportunties for the period of time, and many maritime cases can take as long as 2 years due to the bureaucracy of the admiralty court, thats why many ship-owners, even if they could win the case in the end, still would rather prefer abandon their ships all-together than paying rent and wasting their time in the court.
