President Barack Obama has not ruled out another stimulus package, even as with a few strokes of the pen he enacted the most expensive piece of legislation in US history at $787 billion.
Speaking shortly before Mr Obama landed in Denver to sign the bill that aims to revive the depressed largest economy in the world, his press secretary Robert Gibbs said "the President is going to do what's necessary to grow this economy".
Asked about the possibility of a second bill at later stage he replied, "I wouldn't foreclose it, but I wouldn't say, at the same time, that we're readily making plans to do so."
In a speech to mark the signing of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the president himself said that said he would not pretend "that today marks the end of our economic problems".
"Nor does it constitute all of what we have to do to turn our economy around," he added.
The bill only squeezed through Congress with the support of a handful of Republicans and has been criticised by both sides. The Right has said it squanders government funds, while the Left thinks it won't spend enough to reinvigorate economic activity.
By making the unusual move of signing the bill outside Washington, Mr Obama signalled that he would continue taking his message directly to the American people.
The signing came at the end of his fourth week and office. Despite the a tougher battle than expected getting it passed, it marked a major legislative victory for the new president.

We’ll see how long it takes the country to wake up to this socialist shakedown.
If this doesn’t bankrupt this country, we may need a second attempt.
Because I’m convinced he is not out for our best interest and I don’t mean a difference in idealogues.

TARP was for the banks, Porkulus was for state-local governments/pet projects/deadbeats, and bailout 3 will probably be for deadbeats that don’t make their house payments.
