Talent didn’t lose because Missouri is liberal. Talent lost because he shut up, unexpectedly, and tried to be gentlemanly. In addition, Claire ran as a country girl, something she hasn’t been for decades, which got her more outstate vores than a liberal normally gets. Add to that the reluctance of the bishops to criticize her by name as pro-death and she gets the Catholic vote.
one-two-three.
The Pubbies had better realize there’s more to being elected than ideas and more to governing than consensus and reason.

Santorum ran as an unapologetic, true conservative (which supposedly wins every time). And got waxed by Bob “The Empty Suit” Casey.

Santorum had a history of supporting Spector, NOT true conservatives. Apparently a very very dim bulb to think his good buddy Spector would get his base out to support Santorum. The GOP has a long history always supporting the seniority system and Santorum allowed party policy to get in the way of being who he claimed he was.

So far, in this session McCain hasn’t provided any filibuster busting votes.

{Key words: “so far”}

An appropriate comment for Ms. Snowe from the past.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”—Samuel Adams

So now we punish Republicans not only for their positions and actual voting records but also for whom they do and don’t support?

What next?

Believe me, there are plenty of Maine Republicans who want her out of office. But there are plenty of Maine Republicans who think she does a great job. The power structure of the Maine GOP is very much in Snowe and Collins camp. I’ll name a few: Rick Bennett, Peter Cianchette, Peter Mills, Josh Tardy, Kathy Watson, Dan Billings.

The Maine GOP has a new chair, a fellow named Charlie Webster out of Farmington. He hasn’t played his cards yet as to where he is on Snowe and Collins.

Maine is a blue state. Very much in the control of the Democrats. Went 57% for Obama. State Senate and State House dominated by Democrats. High taxes, out of control spending and borrowing. Many people on welfare, which is unlimited in the State of Maine. A poor state, with the Democrats stepping on the economic air hose continually.

Snowe and Collins would have to be taken out in a primary. The problem is money and a Maine media that is in the tank for Snowe and the other Democrats. Snowe raises huge amounts of cash from the national lobbies and it would take an incredible amount of money to create a “work around” media that could offset the free earned media that she gets from the Portland Press Herald, the Lewiston Sun-Journal and the Bangor Daily News, all rats nests infested with mean-spirited liberal editors and writers.

She really is a nasty person who is all for Olympia.

I have to take issue. The RINOs are presently vital to the survival of our Republic. Face it, that's the way it is. Without them the Republicans cannot stop anything. With them we can stop some things. A weak flank is better than no flank at all.

The Missouri ballot had ‘union’ wage increase on it and thus the ‘unions’ were energized to get out and vote. There was also a cigarette tax on the ballot which failed. And of course that ‘stem cell’ promise to all the welfare recipients the state of Missouri has on its rolls they would not get left behind.

A well planned and perfect liberal ballot, that the blind GOP did NOT wake up to until the dye had been cast.

As a Maine native who recently returned to Maine I’ve told Snowe (and Collins) that I am disgusted with them and they will not get any support from my family. I’ll actively support any conservative who challenges either of them. (As if that will happen in Maine but I can hope.)

Why did I leave Maine? To have a career. Why did we return to Maine? We love the coast of Maine plus I am semi-retired now and my work is location independent.

Excuse me, who is punishing WHOM??? These politicians may not get reelected but their personal pocketbooks are always first priority to have protectionism. These politicians have no problem crawling into BED with liars, cheats, thieves, and traitors to keep up their own personal clubs. Very few of them actually keep their oaths they spew when they take the office.

It's only February.

His Appendage apparently has joined the lib-dems in wanting to nationalize the banks, however. If Appendage is for it, Mc probably isn't too far from the same opinion.

Video of Lindsey Graham coming to terms with Maxine Waters, saying we may have to consider nationalizing the banks. Maxine Waters: "We've come a long way."

"I find it hard to understand how she survives each election....."

Thats an easy one, people of liberal thinking only support like minded people, in lock step with other liberal like minded people, sharing diversity, and growing together as their leaders destroy this once and future great nation.

You know..... morons

Snowe and Collins offices were inundated with calls and emails taking exception to their votes on Pork-U-Lus. A number of us got the same form letter back from Collins. We received no response from Snowe.

Snowe and her hubby, former Governor McKernan, have piled up plenty of assets and she could care about the people back in Maine. She has been in Washington way, way too long.

True-People on this board talk about Voinivich who did not vote for the stimulus like he’s a dog. However, I’m telling you a moderate will win in Ohio, but not a ‘true conservative’ GOP. We are going to get another Dem otherwise. We need to run moderate candidates in liberal moderate areas. It was RINO’s and conservatives who formed the Reagan coalition...and let’s not forget the Reagan Dems who were blue collar workers-many union. If you don’t want to lose the Mid West entirely better make trade more fair also.

It is insulting for Snowe to call herself a Republican when she clearly is nothing more than a socialist.

Be gone, Olympia, be gone from us.
