Careful there. House Republicans voted unanimously against it. And, only 3 Senators. Maybe they are beginning to wake up a little. Of course, Michael Steel wasn’t a good start.

Didn’t he do it to himself? I didn’t make phone calls to hookers, he did? Why get mad at me. He is the one without morals.

I guess once upon a time she pretended to be a fiscal conservative.

The one good thing about the stimulus vote is that we can throw out the charade of fiscal conservative/social liberal.

In a way, it would be kinda cool for the GOP to dump her before she quits.

But, it won’t happen.

Nor should it.

Snowe has made it her mission to undermine and destroy “her” Party.

Tell that to Rick Santorum.

Here you go again... Santorum lipped locked himself to the liberal looser sell out Spector and was against a conservative candidate.

I guess you are right. Let a cheater with the DC Madam of all people continue on. How can you be conservative and not believe in Family Values. I will never understand that.

Methinks I shall start making rhino-horned donkeys to commemorate the “moderates” in the party.

Santorum ran as an unapologetic, true conservative (which supposedly wins every time).

And got waxed by Bob “The Empty Suit” Casey.

Olympia Snowe is the most liberal Republican in the Senate. Her approval rating in Maine over the years ranges between 75-80%.

She is perpetually ambitious and she and Susan Collins have achieved the position of being the two most powerful senators in that body because they are swing voters. Former SCOTUS Justice, Sandra Day O'Connor and present Justice Kennedy also have gloried in being swing voters.

Snow is 62 years old meaning that she will be with us for a long time......and she will stay in the GOP. Her ever-growing seniority will insure prestige and power in the workings of the Senate and she will be perpetually courted by both sides in close votes.

These closet fascists achieving high office in our country disgust me.

Sounds as though she’s getting ready to jump ship.

Well then, let's give the stupid commie be-atch a little nudge. There's no room for non-conservatives in the republican party.

She's got a lot of gall saying anything - we know that she didn't even read the porkulus bill anyway. What an idiot.

I can't say much about Collins either - she sounds like she's never made it past the third grade.

RINO alert. She means you rabscuttle385 LOL

Snowe is nuts.

Now, what I really want to say about the two POS RINO Senators from the Maine SSR would get me banned on FR.

At least Vitter wasn’t engaged in sexual harrassment of subordinates at the job. Trust me, there’s more weirdness of a sexual nature going on at the seat of power than we could comfortably tolerate. In many cases I’d guess that’s the entree into the money circle.
Snowe and Collins will need more than just Maine money to win re-election.

Add George Allen, Jim Talent, Conrad Burns, J. D. Hayworth to the list. All TrueconservativesTM who got the boot in recent election cycles. We need to face reality here, people. The country is more liberal than it was 25 years ago. These aren't the 1980s anymore. Conservatives (even TrueconservativesTM) can still win elections, but they have to have a broader appeal than just to the hard core ideological base. It will also take some measure of luck and a convergence of external factors. Reagan did it in 1980 and 1984, Goldwater failed in 1964.

It's as plain as the nose on our face. All three 'Pub defections were from states in the deepest of blue regions of the country. In an average election year, a TrueconservativeTM simply isn't going to win these days in those states. The demographics are against us; we simply don't have a broad base of support in those states anymore. The 'Pubs who have traditionally been successful candidates in those states have been liberal-moderate. A TrueconservativeTM who only appeals to the hardcore conservative base will win maybe 10-20 of the vote. We're seeing the same thing happening in places like CA and the Midwest. The demographics have shifted tremendously in the last 10-15 years.

It's my party and I'll lie if I wanna ...

Fine, Olympia, if you don't like freedom, go to the party of big government. IT's okay, and it's way better than pretending to be what you're not. Being a closet commie must be SO hard for the self-esteem and all ....

Sounds as though she’s getting ready to jump ship.

That was my first thought, when I read the thread title.

That will put the Dems one vote closer to a filibuster-proof Senate.

But, they basically have that anyway, with Specter, Snowe, Collins, and McCain and his gang.
