The White House is providing a government plane for Sen. Sherrod Brown to return to the Capitol for the vote tonight and then get back to Mansfield for his mother's funeral in the morning.
Today's visitation ends at 8 p.m. There were no commercial flights available that could accommodate the Senate's schedule and Brown's obligations to be with his family and honor his mother, officials said. The trip is considered official business.
Assuming that Republicans will vote no differently from last time, it will take every available Democratic senator tonight to win final passage of the $789 billion economic stimulus package. But two things complicate the calculus -- leaving Ohio's Sherrod Brown in a spot that is getting attention.
His mother, Emily Campbell Brown, died recently. The funeral is tomorrow, and calling hours are today, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. In Mansfield.
The Senate vote on the stimulus bill is scheduled around 7 p.m.
So Brown has to leave Mansfield as soon as he can, catch a plane to Washington and be at the Capitol to vote. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will hold it open as long as necessary for Brown to return.
Brown's vote appears to be essential, because it will take 60 votes to cut off debate and conclude the matter. Remember the earlier Senate bill, before reconciliation with the House version, and how it passed with 61 votes?
That's because Ted Kennedy, a Democrat who has a malignant brain tumor, returned, and three Republicans joined the Democrats' support. But Kennedy is not expected to return tonight because of his health. So unless at least one other Republican joins in, the only way for the historic bill to pass is with Brown's vote.
Brown, who left for Ohio this morning, will make yet another round trip tonight. As soon as he can, he needs to get out of Washington again. His mother's funeral is tomorrow morning.
Bill O’Reilly has said that Sherrod Brown is a “left wing nut.”.
Now that’s bad.
Is that one of those Corporate Jets?? Shouldn’t she be driving a Hybrid or a Golfcart?? The Hypocrisy!
Pray for America and Our Troops
Sherrod's EVEN BETTER in person.
He looks like he bathes in grease.
They need 60 for cloture.
The wrong plane might have crashed during the past 24 hours....
Read the last 2 paragraphs about this guy!

Sherrod Brown Let us Down.
Well good grief. Y'all can't see the simple answer? All these companies we, our children, their children and their children are bailing out have private jets. They can't just get one of the now-taxpayer-owned jets over there to pick this guy up? Nancy is anxious to get on her European tour. Why can't she send her over-sized jet over there. It can accomodate all of Nancy's family, friends, plastic surgeon and casual acquaintances. It should be able to one guy back to Washington....and best of all it's FREE!!!
Browns office won’t answer the phone
Never happen. His ultra-lib, feminazi, Pulitzer Prize winning wife would make a capon out of him.
She writes for the Cleveland Plain Dealer. They are considered a POWER COUPLE by fellow Ohio libs.
I pray we can get to a point to try them all then hang them for treason.
Is he coming in on Air-Force One? Earlier I saw that Obama flew back to Chicago this afternoon. I wonder if he is picking up a return passenger?
Why is his mother important ? Is his dead mom justification for flying on a private jet.
Damn hypocrites
God Damn them all. Crash crash crash
No, but destroying the economic freedom of Americans sure is. Commies will use whatever means necessary.
Now she has to wait for Sherrod to get back. I bet the b**ch is climbing the walls.
Please don't wish that on a member of our military.
S Brown just sucks...
I am from OH but...heavens, what idiots...
Henry Payne is a genius!
