Orchard Park police are investigating a particularly gruesome killing, the beheading of a woman, after her husband -- an influential member of the local Muslim community -- reported her death to police Thursday.
Police identified the victim as Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. Detectives have charged her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder.
"He came to the police station at 6:20 p.m. [Thursday] and told us that she was dead," Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz said late this morning.
Muzzammil Hassan told police that his wife was at his business, Bridges TV, on Thorn Avenue in the village. Officers went to that location and discovered her body.
Muzzammil Hassan is the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, which he launched in 2004, amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light.

Good point, I guess. Is there not a greater penalty for first than second?

Thank you for the info. Altho, I still think killing someone, unless it was an accident, should be either life in prison or death penalty.

Second degree murder is when it hasn’t been completely thought out beforehand

Is there not a greater penalty for first than second? Sometimes there is, but many times the sentence for second is 25 to life. First may be life with not chance for parole.
If a guy is 45, he will be 70 before he can be paroled. Many do not live to 70, so it is about the same.

I realize not all Muslims would do such things.. Really? Not to be too harsh, but how do you know that all devout Muslims would abstain from this or the other perversions described in the Koran or Shari'a law?
I believe that much of our indoctrination into acceptance of the ROP is designed to portray such abominable actions as fringe or rare. It would seem, though, that Islam fundamentally supports, encourages, and rewards this and other stone age barbarisms.

I'm sure she was just choking and this was a clumsy tracheotomy.
Actually, I am shocked at the stupidity of this guy. You'd think he would have faked a hate crime or something.

"Muzzammil Hassan is the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, which he launched in 2004, amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light." I believe his business plan has hit a road bump.

Yup, beheading your wife will do it.

Post 31. LOL. You’re just, so, um, observant, and, um, logical. By current standards anyway.

He is portraying ‘slam in a better light....to other muslims. Probably get sympathy notes like “Sorry you had to behead your wife, she certainly deserved it” or “Thanks for standing up for the rights of men and keeping women in their place”

Then it would no longer be an honor killing, and I believe that’s what this was.

I also love how the headline follows the MSM style book (an “Orchard Park man”).
Given Hassan’s background (owner of a pro-Muslim TV station) they had to mention his Muslim connection. If that were not the case, the article would have described him as a “business man” (you know like all those white business men) with no mention of the pertinent religious affiliation.
