Republicans Shut Out of Stimulus Conference Negotiations (Defeat Porkulus!)
Human Events ^ | Wednesday, February 11, 2009 | Connie Hair

Republicans have caught the Democrats in a midnight “stimulus” power play that seeks to cut Republican conferees out of the House-Senate negotiations to resolve a final version of the Obama “stimulus” package. Staff members from the offices of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) met last night to put together the “stimulus” conference report.

They intend to attempt to shove this $1.3 trillion spending bill through in the dead of the night without Republican input so floor action can take place in both chambers on Thursday.

I spoke with House Republican Conference Chairman Mike Pence (R-Ind.) moments ago about this latest version of Democratic “bipartisanship.” Pence told me, “I think the American people deserve to know that legislation that would comprise an amount equal to the entire discretionary budget of the United States of America is being crafted without a single House Republican in the room.”

How many Senate RINOs will go along with this? Probably, just enough for the Dems to get away with it.

I don't think anyone of them knows what is in this 'stimulus' bill!!!

They have their talking points down that Rahm Emanuel gave them and that's it!

Stabinow has come to the floor to say that it is a bipartisan conference. What the heck?

Time to add more oil to the boiling pot and pluck a lot more chicken feathers.

To me this is good stuff. It destroys any illusion of bi-partisanship.

It also smacks of Soviet style single party government. Let’s see if Americans see it for what it is.

Truth is, the Dem majority is nearly veto proof, so why do they care if Reps play or not - except as a publicity stunt.

LOL.

And shouldn’t the government allow for further inspections before attacking the American Republic?

There is more to congress than getting elected. Already this faction has FBI records on everyone (via our Sec of State) and a doting press who edits their coverage to promote and punish whoever they wish. Can it be that a few of our great republicans in office fear the wrath of the power-mad (and now all-powerful) democrats more than that of their voters?

If they are good to the democrats, will their future elections not have strong democrats/advertising to compete with them?

As this porkulus progresses the business environment retreats. Why don’t they care?

This should be illegal. But then again, maybe our countries rights are now illegal. Republicans should have stormed the meeting and demanded a voice and a vote.

They are shutting them out and after all this is said and done they will scream that they couldn’t get the Pubs to the conference, that they refused to show up.

You mean act like responsible adults?

Fat chance of that happening with the RINO’s.

Who has come to the Senate floor today besides Boxer & Stabinow? Is the day going to be the doom and gloom dems coming out and trying to scare all of us? Extremely nauseating!

The GOP needs to start playing serious hardball with the liberal establishment and get in the Democrats face -— 24-7!!!

Maybe the RNC can hire Karl Rove as they’re field general and give him an office in the Capitol building. Thats if Michael Steele doesn’t object.

Doesn’t matter anyway. A conference bill is not subject to filibuster.

i do not know how to spell quorum, so excuse my spelling, but the question of the day is, what constitutes a quorum in the house? no quorum, no voting.....

"Rebellion to Tyrants is Obedience to God"

Reverse side of the First Committee U.S. seal proposal.

The first committee consisted of Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams.

Franklin chose an allegorical scene from Exodus, described in his notes as "Moses standing on the Shore, and extending his Hand over the Sea, thereby causing the same to overwhelm Pharaoh who is sitting in an open Chariot, a Crown on his Head and a Sword in his Hand. Rays from a Pillar of Fire in the Clouds reaching to Moses, to express that he acts by Command of the Deity." Motto, "Rebellion to Tyrants is Obedience to God."

Drudge has an article saying that Congress has earmarked $300 million for new electric golf carts for themselves. This is outrageous.

This is what it’s about. Christmas for Congress.
