Late Monday, the Senate, voting 61-38, moved to cut off debate on the package, ending delaying-tactics by conservative Republicans that had pushed debate into a seventh day. Three centrist Republicans Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter, along with Maine Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins joined with all 58 Democrats on the procedural motion.

Keep the calls, email and faxes going! Don’t let up the pressure!! Let them know we’re pissed!!
It’s a “Hitt” piece. “Conservative” and “Centrist” labels are abused for the political preferences of the “Journalists.”
Just goes to show the difference between the liberal News pages and the conservative / libertarian Editorial pages of the WSJ.
The cowards will not even move to strip out the $5 billion for ACORN or stop the importation of Hamas “refugees.”
STOP UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE!!
Thanks to the Centrists there is no reason now! All they need is an up or down vote.
Oh, Dear God. Please don’t let this happen.
Can two of those votes be changed so that it cannot pass?
Someone was going to put forth an amendment stating that ACORN could not get any of the money. Did a republican senator do that?
There is this site that lists all the different projects in the stimulus bill, how many jobs they will create and the cost. It is divided up by city, state. I think it would be helpful to add it all up by city, state. How much jobs, how much money for each job type.
This is the link: http://www.stimuluswatch.org/project/by_city/
Ii have to be gone for a couple of hours but if anyone would be willing to help I would appreciate it.
The Democraps OWN this disaster. We don’t.
The only hope now is that the compromise emerging from conference will have some provision in it that will cause one of the Rhinos voting in favor to flip.
I'm not holding my breath, however...
Yeah, apparently there are only three “centrist” senators and ALL of the rest are “conservative.” I wish.
Great resource
thanks
I think so.
But don’t wait for these RINOS to change their minds
These three may as well be Democraps for all of the times they voted the wrong side of important issues.
You only need a simple majority...in the next vote?
Centrists? They’re either marxists or idiots, but I repeat myself.
I can’t believe that Collins has the hubris to call her amendments to the bill “bipartisan.” Does she really believe that she is Republican?
Unfortunately we will suffer along with the rest of the country when the unintended consequences of this grand theft of the future is passed and signed by the Great and Glorious Obama.
No, they can still filibuster a bill out of conference. It's pretty unlikely, though.
