Closing of Gitmo puts Europe in a quandary

The decision to shut down the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay was a dream come true for many Europeans, including anti-terrorism officials who largely have condemned the facility.

But European officials admit that dismantling Gitmo could be something of a nightmare.

The foreign ministers of the European Union recently vowed to help President Barack Obama keep his promise to shutter the prison on the coast of Cuba in a year. They offered to provide refuge for as many as 60 inmates who could face persecution in their native lands.

We should not be concerned with the prospects of their being persecuted. Just dump ‘em off back home ~ properly shackled of course ~ and be prepared to shoot anyone who tries to stop us.

‘Whose imprisonment MADE them radicals’ — ah yes, have fun with them, Frenchies. You’ll grow to love them too.

60 inmates who could face persecution in their native lands....”

For what? They are all innocent, tortured and misunderstood. Why would their native lands persecute them?

What's the worry? Obama will probably put them on the fast track to citizenship. Hell if a child pornographer can be in Obama's cabinet surely mid-level al-Qaeda deserve to do the work Americans won't do. Or something.

At 15000 feet, no worry about dealing with someone trying to stop us.

Persecuted? They would just be summarily shot; the Saudi’s don’t want to deal with these people.

Isn’t Europe always in a quandary?

The old panty twist?

Except for the risk of hitting an innocent person on the ground that’s a good suggestion.

Let’s shove them over the border into Canada. Their National Health System will polish them off right quick.

This is only an issue because it was put in place by GW Bush. Had Gitmo been a corruptocrat idea it would still be flying high. I hope 15 of the cutthroat bastages have to be housed at 1600 Penn Ave in Washington DC.

Yeah...wrongly accused and innocent. These people are not going to stop with their revisionist history about bona fide terrorists. I don’t wish ill on anyone but if Al Queda is to strike again, my vote is for New York or London as the most helpful given where most of these writers call home.

Once these Al Queda jerks set off a nuclear device in one of these cities, and these revisionists lose their cafes and dance clubs...are the ones who happen to survive finally going to grow a spine for the tough work that NEEDS to be done?

I was always partial to 10,000 feet, but I like the way you think.

“A Quandary?” Sounds so European quaint, doesn’t it?

Translation: They are not taking the savages..Obama will have to send them to the ‘red states’ in America. Hopefully for an ‘overthrow’.

Europe has enough AQ colonizing their coutry already!

/sarcasm

lol...why yes my dear! A ‘quandary’ is all Europe has been in ever since all of their balls and spine left for Australia and America in the 1700’s.

ok..a bit snarky for conservative friends in Europe..but they know what I mean.

LOL

They should face execution, not persecution. The 5 star holiday resort "Club Gitmo" is a vacation those idiots hope will never end.

Until now the Europeans relied on US to do the ‘dirty anti terror work’ while they can sit on a sofa and brand us as “right wing extremists”, well the free lunch is over Europe!
