I've tried both Boxer and Feinstein, but get nothing but busy signals or "mail box full" messages. That's a good sign. That means citizens are burning down their switchboards. But they also have forms on their websites to send messages. Click the link above to contact your senators.
Here is the message I sent to both of my senators:
Please vote no on the pork package. If you want to stimulate the economy, stimulate business investment and hiring and give people more money to spend NOW, cut the taxes. Cut business and investment taxes. Cut the payroll tax. Cut the personal income tax. Don't burden us or our children with trillions of dollars in crippling new debt. You cannot tax, borrow and spend your way into prosperity. The Chinese are going to eat your lunch! Scratch that. They've already eaten your lunch. They're now eating your home!
Regards,
Jim Robinson
I heard on FOX news that Feinstein is actually considering voting no. Now is the time to call. Put the pressure on and keep it on! The people do not want this trillion dollar boondoggle! Time for the senate to get a taste of the wrath of the people!!
Hate to jump the gun here, but as soon as this is over, we’ll be leading the charge to EXCOMMUNICATE ANY REPUBLICAN who votes for this package. If they cannot understand the importance of standing against this, then they should be allowed to have an (R) next to their name.
Done...No doubt as to Murray and Cantwell’s vote but at least I’m on record against it with them.
should = SHOULDN’T :)
I already have and both Texas Senators are a NO!
Done.
Not too much hope with Leaky Leahy, but Bernie Sanders is unpredictable. He voted “no” on immigration amnesty, because he saw it would be bad for Vermont workers. He may be a far leftist, but he’s not a cold, dead soul like Leahy.
Chuckie did say: “And oh yes, we won.”
Thanks for the link, Jim. I emailed Boxer and Feinstein and ordered them not to vote for porkulus. Too many big words for Boxer. Maybe we have a chance with DiFi.
Thanks you for posting. Emailing or calling all of them.
Contacted both of mine.
Chuckie is still saying the public strongly favors Porkulous.
“That first number starts off by telling us Thanks for calling to support Obamas plan.”
Sounds like a trick to me....tonight we’ll be hearing that the switchboard was burned up by a gazillion voters SUPPORTING the plan.
If anyone DOES get through...might want to ask what the scoop is on that one. Why are they thanking us when we’re calling to oppose?????
Thanks for the link, Jim. I sent both of my lib Senators (Warner/Webb) a strong message to vote ‘no’.
Yeah? See my post #93.
I took a new tact. Called Jim Web’s office again (866.507.1570) and asked what he thought about the current bill. Answer was pretty good.
He’s trying to get them to focus on jobs, infrastructure, and immediate stimulus and not vote so quickly. I said that sounded good, but then added and if they don’t cut all the pork out of it for special interests I hope he votes no.
Sound like a blue dog democrat when you call...it may help change the opinion of the staff.
Emailed Casey and Specter. Called their offices - on hold with Casey’s office for a couple of minutes but did get through. Still trying to get through to Specter’s office - busy signal. Probably a good sign.
The size of the U.S. military has been cut drastically in the past decade. He did all of this, and during that time the WTC was bombed, the USS Cole was bombed, and Bin Laden was handed to him on a platter.
Between 1992 and 2000, the Clinton Administration cut national defense by more than half a million personnel and $50 billion in inflation-adjusted dollars. The Army alone has lost four active divisions and two Reserve divisions. The number of total active personnel in the Air Force has decreased by nearly 30 percent. In the Navy, the total number of ships has decreased from around 393 ships in the fleet in 1992 to 316 today. Even the Marines have dropped 22,000 personnel.
Present Obama is just continuing the work of fellow travelers that came before him.
I hope the republicans hold together on this. It's clearly a way to use the "emergency" to push stuff through that wouldn't make it in the full light of the normal legislative process. There isn't much stimulus in this spending bill. Just a lot of left wing socialist programs. Some of it probably will pass with the Dem majorities in both houses. But it shouldn't be allowed in an "emergency" bill like this.
I hit both my senators. I told Martinez to grow a back bone. If he approves this then we better vote him out. He is just a RINO anyways.
