Senate bail-out talks hit impasse
Mr Obama delivered another impassioned plea for support of the bill
US senators have reached deadlock in their attempts to find a compromise over President Barack Obama's $900bn (£616bn) economic stimulus package.
A group of senators from both parties has forced a line-by-line review of the bill by arguing that it should be trimmed by tens of billions of dollars.
The senators will start a fourth day of deliberations later.
Meanwhile, Mr Obama has again warned that the US economy faces "catastrophe" if exceptional measures are not taken.
He said that if Congress failed to pass his package, the resulting recession could destroy another five million American jobs.
Speaking at a meeting of Democrats from the House of Representatives, Mr Obama said: "They didn't vote for the status quo; they sent us here to bring change. We owe it to them to deliver."
His warning comes amid another batch of gloomy economic figures.
And figures out on Friday are expected to show that more than 500,000 private sector jobs were purged last month alone.

Mr Obama delivered another impassioned plea for support of the billMore like a partisan hissy fit to try to get support for a partisan non-stimulus bill.

Mr Obama has again warned that the US economy faces "catastrophe" if exceptional measures are not taken." Economies have two modes of operation: Growth or Panic. Thanks for the confidence building, smooth handling of this Mr. President. /Sarc/

Dems must be confused. They don’t have the political will to GIVE MONEY WAY. They have a majority and they can’t even do it. I say we get out the popcorn and watch them kill each other in the ring.

Obama is desperate, his handlers are expecting their cash cow to pay them back and he is coming up short, this reminds me of the scene in Casino Royale where the baddie gets a third eye for losing SPECTREs money in a card game to James Bond.

Does it strike anybody as strange that actually looking at what’s in the bill has to be “forced?”

I will never understand how rasing taxes will help out the economy? I mean, I’m not retarded in the sense that what our leaders are trying to do whithin this bill is fool most Americans, the fact that we have this current Administration is proof of the fact that most people do not know, or care about thier history, that fact aside, and back to the point, What should Pres Obama do? Well... I actually feel very confident that those of us that pay taxes will, if we realize it, would feel we are being raped, you know, just as taxpayers, BTW, not in Pres Obamas Radar (HE’S LIKE THIS MARXIST DUDE). And this is just the start. I challange any Obama suporter, that actually pays taxes, to look at what’s happening in the next few months, and say, “This is great”, & “Super job”, and, “Good for Us”.
My contention is if there was a taxpayer that would agree whith this tripe that they are truly idiotic.

"
I say we get out the popcorn and watch them kill each other in the ring." I was watching some fool today claiming that the people would really be pissed at Republicans for holding this bill up. My immediate reaction (other than spewing coffee with a guffaw) was to ask myself: Who taught this fool logic? Democrats have complete control of Washington and Republicans will be blamed?
Obama and the Democrats (sounds like a '50s band doesn't it) are in a real pickle. If this bill passes along a partisan line and fails, they will be solely and squarely to blame. So they want GOP members on board very badly. I think Republicans will be fools to vote for this. It'll pass anyway and if it works, it will be Obama that gets the credit. We won't be seeing any "we voted for the bail out too" GOP posters in 2012.
