The Impending Obama Meltdown
National Review Online ^ | February 4, 2009 | Victor Davis Hanson

Some of us have been warning that it was not healthy for the U.S. media to have deified rather than questioned Obama, especially given that they tore apart Bush, ridiculed Palin, and caricatured Hillary. And now we can see the results of their two years of advocacy rather than scrutiny.

We are quite literally after two weeks teetering on an Obama implosion—and with no Dick Morris to bail him out—brought on by messianic delusions of grandeur, hubris, and a strange naivete that soaring rhetoric and a multiracial profile can add requisite cover to good old-fashioned Chicago politicking.

My take is COMRADE 0 will cut lots of pork out of the stimulus package. Show Congress who is boss and in this way his poll numbers will go back up.

No more tax cheats are getting in either. Only Tim Geithner will make it past his tax problems and is now in office. Unfortunately Comrade 0’s polls will go back up

I hate to say it, but.... we really need to nominate someone under the age of sixty who can connect to the Sodom and Gomorrah of pop culture. Principled geezers just don't cut it in national elections.

I think we just forgot to nominate a conservative candidate. All of the RINOs had their ducks in a row. Where was OUR candidate???

why else is obama stuggling with executive pay caps?

he has nothing?

he has an empty hand.

His bluff was called and rather than do something really useful, he dusts off the left wing cookbook and serves up the same old class warfare of the communists.

Obama is a puppet. Someone else is pulling the strings

My money says Pelosi or Reid.

” It all looks so foolish now; to think we ever thought that McCain ever had a chance. How could we have been so stupid? “ I don’t think all that many of us were ‘stupid’, necessarily — we were gulled by the vocal minority (unfortunately very present here on FR) who insisted that we hold our collective noses and push/pull/punch the “R” button/lever/chad even if Ronald McDonald was the name beside it.... (Yes, RM would have been a preferable candidate, in many ways)....

I confess. I was so terrified of Hillary that I supported McWhatshisname. Never, ever believing Americans would be so incredibly stupid as to elect someone with NO capacity to serve as POTUS just because he is 1/2 black. Hillery'd be looking pretty good right now compared to this nightmare.

It will happen. I wouldn’t even be surprised if Obama resigns.

These pay caps are beyond zany. Who will work for these banks if they make less than everyone else at that level in the industry. Affirmative action jobs????

Maybe THAT'S why he's holding his birth certificate info. Its his "get out of Dodge" card.

"OOOPPS! Sorry folks. I just checked my birth certificate and I'm not legally qualified! Guess I'll just be on my way. Oh, and Joe, the key to the front door of the White House is under the mat. Love, Barack!"

Big Media blew Zero up so high that he can only fail.

I started saying this in the weeks up to the inauguration. The expectations put on Obama by the media and the far left are so unrealistic that I almost feel sorry for Obama. There's simply no way he can deliver what they want. And when he can't, they shall turn on him like the rabid wolves that they are.

We lost when the RINO sob announced to the nation, ‘Senator Obama is a decent family man and is not to be feared’.

I knew all along what Obama was. But I never would have guessed he would get off to this bad of a start.

100% agree. Given the unrealistic expectations of him, I knew this was coming. But I had no idea it would take less than a month.

You can see that already. His skin is looking ashy and there are bags under his eyes.

Near the end of the campaign, I thought for sure I spied a few flecks of gray in his hair when watching some interviews. I guess someone got him some better hair dye after Nov 4.

Yep. And the MSM suddenly seems to be doing its job, excluding NBC/MSNBC.

In fact - I wouldn’t mind doing some shots with her.

I don't drink, and I didn't like the Clinton administration. But I have to agree; if she were off somewhere doing shots, I'd knock a few back with her.

Nor did VDH mention Kentucky.

AKA Obama’s Katrina.

The biggest National Disaster (since Inauguration Day) so far this year... and Obama is ignoring the millions without heat and electricity as he cranks up the thermostat in the White House.

And the press is silent on this - of course.

True, but don't forget the liberal churches. They may even be a bigger problem than the Big Government schools.

You may be right. The church is the last bastion of sanity, but even it is being assaulted on a daily basis, it's message diluted.
