The Impending Obama Meltdown
National Review Online ^ | February 4, 2009 | Victor Davis Hanson

Some of us have been warning that it was not healthy for the U.S. media to have deified rather than questioned Obama, especially given that they tore apart Bush, ridiculed Palin, and caricatured Hillary. And now we can see the results of their two years of advocacy rather than scrutiny.

We are quite literally after two weeks teetering on an Obama implosion—and with no Dick Morris to bail him out—brought on by messianic delusions of grandeur, hubris, and a strange naivete that soaring rhetoric and a multiracial profile can add requisite cover to good old-fashioned Chicago politicking.

FDR sounded soooo good when he went on TV in 1929

You're referring to Biden's gaffe? FDR wasn't on TV in '29...

It all looks so foolish now; to think we ever thought that McCain ever had a chance. How could we have been so stupid?

plus remember the rate of illiteracy of the general populous back then (they simply couldn’t read and many never finished H.S.).

Yeah, some things never change.

I completely agree, but I would add this: We have roughly 3+ generations of public school products. These people have no ability to think critically, and have been indoctrinated into socialism. It’s not that they don’t realize the chains are being placed on them... they wish for it.

True, but don't forget the liberal churches. They may even be a bigger problem than the Big Government schools.

Mo Do isn’t mentioned in Hansen’s article. It’s just that she wrote one in the same vein, see comment 83 with its link to the Mo Do article, which is also accompanied by a very nice pic of CZJ.

From the article:"If he doesn't quit the messianic style and perpetual campaign mode, and begin humbly governing, then he will devolve into Carterism—angry that the once-fawning press betrayed him while we the people, due to our American malaise, are to blame.

Hitler ordered the subway systems in Berlin to be flooded, to deny them to the Russians, despite hundreds of refugees that would drown. He felt that the German people didn't deserve to have a nation, because they had failed to uphold his greatness. So, he set about ensuring that Germany was reduced to rubble and ashes.

Lord forgive me; I feel that our country has a great possibility of traveling down this road with nobama at the lead, should things take a drastic turn for the worse.

We had a guy that ended up in charge of our quality control dept. Told everybody we was Microsoft Certified? I don’t know who interviewed him but he couldn’t even turn on a computer... He probably lasted longer than Obamy will.....

Sounds like a guy that works with my son.

My son told me that this guy was from India, is an engineer, can design and change designs with the greatest of ease, and is a nice guy to work with.

He tore up the company mailbox trying to open it to mail a letter....

Leave the Obamas alone! They have been cooped up in the White House, for heaven’s sake.

I think we knew we were doing everything we could to do the equivalent of getting Rosie O'Donnell a gold medal in the pole vault when we campaigned for McCain, and I still contend that McCain would have been an unmitigated disaster as President.

Except for Palin, McCain's campaign theme could easily have been, "He's a better disaster than the other guy."

Oh my! This sentence is amazingly accurate.

“Obama immediately must lower the hope-and-change rhetoric, ignore Reid/Pelosi, drop the therapy, and accept the tragic view that the world abroad is not misunderstood but quite dangerous.”

Wow, it is so true! Unfortunately, he is the leader of idealistic liberals and they all think that way. I don’t know what else we can do to make them understand that their view is NOT CORRECT.

” It all looks so foolish now; to think we ever thought that McCain ever had a chance. How could we have been so stupid? “

I don’t think all that many of us were ‘stupid’, necessarily — we were gulled by the vocal minority (unfortunately very present here on FR) who insisted that we hold our collective noses and push/pull/punch the “R” button/lever/chad even if Ronald McDonald was the name beside it.... (Yes, RM would have been a preferable candidate, in many ways)....

So, an affirmative action President is not such a smart thing, after all.

You don’t understand how these morons think. Obama doesn’t say “uh uh uh” because he’s stupid, he says it because he is SO brilliant and such a genius of geniuses, that he has pause with uhs to come up with ways to dumb down his thoughts for the swooning masses.
