Michael Steele, the new chairman of the Republican National Committee wants the GOP to reach out to candidates who support gay marriage and are pro-choice. Steele told Fox's Chris Wallace that it was "important" to reach out to those voters.
WALLACE: You are one of the co-founders of something called the Republican Leadership Council which supports candidates who favor abortion and gay rights.
STEELE: Yes.
(watch video)
WALLACE: Does the GOP needs to do a better job of reaching out to people who hold those views?
STEELE: I think -- I think that's an important opportunity for us, absolutely. Within our party we do have those who have that view as well as outside and my partnership with Christy Todd Whittman was an effort to build a bridge between moderates and conservatives.

If we try to mollify the pro-aborts by making it seem as if there really isn't that much difference between our positions and that even though they support the greatest evil in the last 100 years that they are still welcome, then we have completely diluted the pro-life message and we will have shown them that we are not as committed to life as they are committed to death.
We need to send a message that ABORTION IS EVIL and that those who support it will not get our support. Period. End of discussion.
Anything less than that is lending tacit approval to the abortion holocaust.
Agreed, CHRISTIANITY does not support totalitarianism, but it does appear that some CHRISTIANS have been seduced by the siren call of totalitarianism in the service of specific goals. Moreover, as with previous moral crusades, those seduced by power will claim to do so in the name of God.
The Founding Fathers were Christian, but they (with the exception of Hamilton and his faction) feared and distrusted a government allowed to escape the bounds set in the Constitution. There is NO good reason, no matter how noble or worthy, to unleash the beast of government upon the People. We have forgotten the lesson our forefathers tried to teach us, and it has been to our detriment.
Sad isn't it? The GOP still think that the only way they can win is to compete with the demoncraps as the party of perversion and death.
Have you ever heard the story of Gideon?
It is best to leave. The GOP has spent the last decade deceiving religious conservatives.
I am also now independent, and in looking at parties, I'm struck by the Godly positions of the Constitution Party, and by the fact that it's guided by everyday people.
Sometimes, less is better IF it is the heart of quality.
Pray tell do you have any stats on how many pro-life or evangelical voters went fo Obama?
I hear that bandied about like conventional wisdom but have seen no data to back that up. I know of not one incidence personally and I know scores of pro-lifers
What Obama did get was a bump in blacks and youth....both normally Dem blocks anyhow
and he got that ignorant middle driven by the mood of the moment....that being what handed him the election
that and GOP turnout off a few million from 2004
It is sad. Despite all my rhetoric, I may wind up voting for the GOP presidential candidate. Depends on who he is, and dwhat the third parties offer.
But not if he is a RINO. Never again!!
Easy-Read Version
Long after the battle of Jericho, the Israelites decided to disobey God again. They hid out in the hills, fearing a people called the Midianites.
One day, a man named Gideon heard an angel say, “God is with you, mighty warrior!”
“God is with me?” asked Gideon in surprise. “Then why are we having such troubles?”
“You shall save Israel,” said the angel. “For God has chosen you to lead your people.”
“Me?” cried Gideon. “But who will listen to me? I am no one! I am the least of the least.”
“God will go with you,” said the angel.
Thousands of men came to help Gideon. But God said, “That’s too many. Send hack any who are afraid.” So Gideon let 22,000 men leave. Now 10,000 remained.
“You still have too many,” said God, and He showed Gideon whom to send home.
Now only 300 men remained! God told Gideon’s army to surround the Midianite camp.
When Gideon gave the signal, they smashed jars, waved torches, yelled loudly, and blew their trumpets. The startled Midianites grabbed their swords and fought against themselves. Then they ran! God used Gideon’s tiny army to win the battle!
See Judges 6-7, Bible Version
“The GOP is dead on arrival. Time for a radical reform party that is strictly conservative. We don’t need a big tent party catch all BS group that stands for nothing. We have the democrats for that.”
Bears repeating.
I didn’t realize Steele was pro gay-marriage.
Steele tries so desperately to be all things to all people, the exact thing that has brought the GOP/RINO party to its present debacle. Now he is their token black, between a rock & hard place...how can a conservative bond with pro-infanticide, pro-homo marraige/adoption/usurpation/family destruction policy, illegal immigration and watering down of the RKBA???
Get over it; the GOP is dead, RIP. The time for the Indy Party is now, never better. AIP is strongest & growing.
Gee, did he forget the gun controllers and welfare cheats?/s
Sorry to sound like a pessimist. As far as the current situation w/Obama, I believe it IS God's doing as a form of judgment on us as a national people, just like He did with Israel and other nations in times of old.
Time for a third party. The third parties should united, and start organizing now.
The fact that you would support an anti American, pro surrender party like the CP tells the rest of us all there is to know about you. Go ahead and join them. Your support won’t matter. They will never achieve power in this country. By leaving the Republican Party, you will only be disenfranchising yourself.
Even if they did unite they wouldn’t even receive a million votes. If conservatives want to have any say about the country’s future, they will stay and work within the GOP.
