NEW YORK -- Most Republican governors have broken with their GOP colleagues in Congress and are pushing for passage of President Barack Obama's economic aid plan that would send billions to states for education, public works and health care.
Their state treasuries drained by the financial crisis, governors would welcome the money from Capitol Hill, where GOP lawmakers are more skeptical of Obama's spending priorities.

Because for reasons that prove elusive, some wish to see that Gov Palin won’t run for POTUS.
That is what this is all about, really why is the media so concerned about what a governor is doing in Washington just to trash her and make it sound like she is not Conservative. Is she 100 percent Conservative, no I don’t think so, but she is the closest that we got right now. Unemployment there is at 7 percent, the same for the rest of the country, so she needs that portion of the bill to pass(and she is on record that she supports it) but has said repeatedly that she is against the REST of the bill, if she was so for the bill, how come Dems in Alaska are on her ass for not begging for more money
Sometimes I’m convinced the entire 10% of our party that have an unfavorable opinion of her post here.
Do you have a quote from her in support of the bailout to counter mine?
They won’t, they will just continue with the same talking points they got from CNN and MSNBC, then they can go back to saying “GO ROMNEY” and “GO HUCKABEE”
That quote came from Sarah HERSELF, until I see any future quotes from her, NOT sources, not speculation, but from her OWN mouth, saying otherwise, then this AP story is just more nonsense to make people think that she is not a Conservative. Boy are the left fearful of her or what

I think they just had their 7th case of Avian flu in one week in China. They have had 23 or so since 2003. That money may be neccesary.
The End?
yep
Republican congressmen had it right. Senate republicans cannot fathom the majority of their constituents want no part of the stimulus bill. They are in essence laying the red carpet for Obama's future reelection and damaging the conservative base by virtue of their wilful disregard toward the majority of conservatives who want this package soundly defeated by both House and Senate Republicans.
Don’t be paranoid. I’m very much a supporter of Governor Palin.
It’s so much easier to come out with a knee jerk post - like get rid of all the bums - than it is to think about the issue. Sponsors of Congressional bills are quite adept at including some necessary funding with their favorite projects. And given the schedules for addressing bills, and the partisanship of the leaders, most funding projects don’t get more than 1 or 2 chances in a year.
I haven’t seen the details of this “stimulus”, because it isn’t in the Dem Congress’ best interests to let us know too much. But I’m quite sure that some of the items in the bill are necessary things like bridge and road repair (never mind that I think the Feds shouldn’t control those. That horse got out of the barn 50 years ago) Govs, be they GOP or Dem, really can’t refuse to take that money. If they have to build a monument to Sen. Claghorn in order to repair a dangerous bridge, should they do it or not? They don’t get to pick just one.
I do get tired of people thinking that those are easy choices. They might be if you’re posting on FR; they aren’t if you’re in the Gov. position.
And it doesn’t get us better politicians in elected office if we will ditch them for a decision we don’t understand and can’t be bothered learning about.
I think that’s how we got Obama - ignorance is bliss (for awhile, anyway)
Let’s try to be more reasoned than the overemotional Libs, please.
They do have a choice. The idea of no choice is the lie we continue to accept. They have to balance their budgets, cut them like most of us do. We need to quit making excuses for our leadership who are driving this country over a cliff. They are building a proverbial tower of Babel that will collapse. If they’d spend as much time modeling government process as they do the climate they’d see that we are approaching a point of no return one where even some us support the status-quo when it serves our desires or excuses those we like from their own responsibility. We are doing a shameful thing by not demanding that this insanity stop.
States should cut wages and positions. They should reduce programs and baseline to critical services and reduce budgets across the board. They are in this position because they have spent and spent and spent growing budgets like wildfire during time of fictional surpluses built on sand.
I am gonna wait for HER to say what she is for and against. There is NO way she is for the ENTIRE stimulus package, I know what she has said she is for so I am waiting for her remarks. It would go against everything she has said in the last few weeks, and there is no way she would be for abortion, since the stimulus package contains contraception bills, so I am thinking this is a huge misunderstanding, they are taking her words saying she is for the infrastructure and instead of mentioning that one portion of it, says she is for the whole thing. The reason why I am not buying this is because she just said last week she is against the package because she is against bigger government, I heard it with my own ears, so for her to all of a sudden switch her opinion in a matter of days would make NO sense
Then please give her some credit and the benefit of the doubt when you read something like this.
I believe you.
This hole thang reelee sucks canal wadder!!!
or crist. he’s pro-illegal immigrants. in the closet rino. no
reason to listen to him at all. sounds like true conservative governors
are against stimulus.
Spoken as a true Conservative. You make me proud.
