Washington D.C. (AHN) - While the president tries to rally bipartisan support for passing legislation, liberal groups are striking back at one of the Republican's most influential leaders, Rush Limbaugh.
The liberal group, Americans United for Change is set to launch radio ads in three states Obama won - Ohio, Pennsylvania and Nevada - that poses a new controversial question to GOP senators, asking, "Will you side with Obama or Rush Limbaugh?"
"Every Republican member of the House chose to take Rush Limbaugh's advice," the narrator says while playing a clip of Rush Limbaugh saying he hopes Obama "fails."
"Every Republican voted with Limbaugh - and against creating 4 million new American jobs. We can understand why a extreme partisan like Rush Limbaugh wants President Obama's Jobs program to fail - but the members of Congress elected to represent the citizens in their districts? That's another matter. Will our Senator side with Rush Limbaugh too?"
Asked to respond to the advertisement, Limbaugh had a message for his party and other Senate Republicans targeted.
"Senate Republicans need to understand this is not about me. It is about them, about intimidating them, especially after the show of unity in House. It is about the 2010 and 2012 elections. This is an opportunity for Republicans to redefine themselves after a few years of wandering aimlessly looking for a 'brand' and identity."
The ad, which is generating some controversy among conservatives, is being defended by Democratic strategists like Brad Woodhouse, who is overseeing the campaign, as a way to call attention to House Republicans "deciding to play politics rather than do the right thing."
Meanwhile, as their allies take to the airwaves, President Obama and advisers are busy on the phone and in closed-door meetings with House and Senate Republicans trying to shore up support on both sides of the congressional aisle.
So far, it seems Senate Republicans will be more open to the stimulus package than House GOP members, who did not cast a single vote in favor of the proposal.
"We're in a little different spot than the House in that we have a handful of Republicans who have all but committed to supporting the package," one Senate aide said on condition of anonymity.
Funny, I agree with Rush, creating more lifetime government bureaucratic jobs and pork is wrong.
I cannot understand Liberals, they are illogical.
If Rush was serious about hitting the truth at the liberals, he ought to pick up a TV Reality Show and put the hottest young female “to talk on the streets” (like Jay Leno only with sex appeal)...Get the truth out because let’s face it, the youth voted for Obama based on WHAT THEY SAW ON TV, NOT RADIO!!!
LOL! I’m sure Rush is getting a kick out of being thought to be such a major influence in the Republican Party. They never listened to him before, though he tried mightily to make them see reason.
If a liberal falls in the studio and no one is tuned in, does it make a sound?
The moonbat class of KOS’rs and other nutcases has started to give Obama heat on his appointments, which put the lie to his promises about lobbyists, and transparency.
This is to give them someplace else to direct thier unhinged hatreds, and they are dutifully swallowing...
Obama’s irregulars on the march.
Laughable. Democrats doing the right thing hasn’t happened since . . . . since . . . . since . . . not even during my “misguided” and naive days.
FREE advertising for Rush....COOL!
;-)
Yeah, we have Teddy the Swimmer and John Effin Kerry. I'm not going to waste my breath or a stamp on these two for the Porkulus bill. I DID send them the postcards we got at Mass last week against FOCA. We brought ours home, and sent them directly. I HAD to make my voice heard on that issue, though it won't influence them one bit.
“They” aren’t paying for crap...
They post on MoveOn and KOS and the largely OVERSEAS dollars flow in. And they don’t even have to report that it’s a foriegn donation. . If you follow KOS closely, tou’ll notice 3 very distinct posting groups.
Gays, Media or media-wannabe wonks, and non-US citizens who hate Israel. (Largely arab, I would guess) This has served them well as hate-filled money-generators, but it remains to be seen how it’s going to play when they are on defense.
If no Republicans vote for it, the ‘Rats won’t be able to pin this boondoggle ON the Republicans when it fails and fails miserably and totally throws the economy into a tailspin.
I can literally FEEL those of us that produce things and generate tax dollars digging in our heels and refusing to move. I know I am. :)
What they have ten radio stations and a half a dozen people listing, where Rush has 600 stations and nearly 20million hearing his ads.
Exactly. The GOP House members did what I imagine their constituents told them to do. I’m sick of the Dems thinking their guy got 65% of the popular vote. He got 52%, you idiots - and he did it will illegal votes, foreign money, etc., so shut up with this “get with the program” attitude. These people come from conservative districts and answer to conservative voters.
Oh, and will you be saying that 11 Democrat House Members chose to listen to Rush as well?
I think these Dhimmies have bitten off way more than they can ever hope to chew. They have no idea what they are in for...
I don’t think this is a good strategy for the libs. With their leader preaching “unity” it doesn’t look good. And they shouldn’t be picking a fight if they can’t control the outcome. :)
If a liberal goes on Talk Radio & no one hears them, did he make a sound?
Ooops! Didn’t mean to plagerize your line!
“I think these Dhimmies have bitten off way more than they can ever hope to chew. They have no idea what they are in for...”
I agree. I keep thinking about the dog that chases cars all of his life. What on Earth would he ever DO if he actually caught one? LOL!
great minds!
