General Sessions Court Judge Bob Moon on Wednesday told a female home invasion victim she needs to buy a gun to protect herself.
"There should be a law that law abiding citizens with no felony convictions should own a gun," the judge said while setting bond for Colton Dobbins.
Judge Moon told Danielle Walker, "I know many fine police officers. But we can't depend on the police to protect us any more."
He said Chattanooga is the 57th most dangerous city in the country, and to many criminals "the value of human life means nothing to them."
The judge said, "With 7,000 foreclosures every day and 6,000 kids dropping out of school" that the crime situation is going to get much worse.
He told the 18-year-old Dobbins he is "lucky to be alive" after barging into the home of Ms. Walker.
Judge Moon said, "If it had been my house you came in on, you would have wound up at Coulter Funeral Home."
Dobbins was charged with forcing his way into Ms. Walker's home where she and her nine-year-old son live. Ms. Walker said Dobbins knocked her to the floor, then two other men entered her home.
Ms. Walker said, "I was afraid for my son."
I agree with that judge. I live near Chicago, and I’ve heard many people demand stricter gun laws because of the shootings of Chicago teenagers. Gun laws arent the answer. In Chicago, no one, except police officers and aldermen are allowed to own handguns. Chicago has a higher murder rate (number of murders per 100,000 people) than New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Denver, Phoenix, and Miami. New York City has more than twice as many people as Chicago, but, during four of the last six years, Chicago had more murders. Chicago criminals go to other towns, buy guns, and bring them to Chicago, knowing that the law-abiding people cant defend themselves.
According to the Index of Leading Cultural Indicators, by William Bennett, in 1960, about 10% of American babies were born out of wedlock. In 1991, the percentages were 65%, for Blacks; 30%, for Hispanics; and 25%, for Whites. When only one parent raises a child, its harder to teach the kid good morals, especially since many single mothers work two or three jobs, to make ends meet. When parents arent with their kids, many of their teenagers become criminals, causing the kids to commit gun crimes and/or become shooing victims. Government cant do much to change this. Each American should be more responsible and not conceive children until theyre married. Single fathers should show that care more about their kids by paying child support and spending more time with their kids.
Someone file a lawsuit with this judge to get Dear Leader to show us his birth certificate. I doubt this judge will tell members of the military they have NO Standing in asking if Dear Leader is eligible.
Judge with a good head on his shoulders, and a forty under his robe.
‘Coulter Funeral Home, eh? Is it operated by one of Anns relatives?’
The funeral home’s motto:
“Putting Liberals where they belong!”
Oh....I agree with him too. Perhaps the best endorsement of the Second Amendment by any government official since Mike Foster, our pre-Blanco Governor here in Louisiana addressed the I-10 serial killer issue a few years back saying “this is why we have a concealed carry law.”
So how many years did Dobbins-the-thug get? Does anybody from Chatanooga know?
We don’t need concealed carry laws. Without those laws, every law-abiding American should assume that he or she may carry guns, to defend themselves.
This is the second article I’ve read on FR about Judge Moon making this statement to female victims of crime.
I know Judge Moon, used to buy columns from him for an outdoor magazine. For your information, he is one heck of a bowhunter, and for years represented a bow company.
He means what he says.
He once wrote an article for the this magazine about the first attempt at government gun control, a case that happened here in Tennessee during the Civil War. In addition to being a conservative, pro hunting judge, he’s also an excellent writer.
I’d post that article, but it was published before the magazine was online, and I don’t have a copy of it.
Coulter Funeral Home: “You shoot ‘em, we’ll root ‘em,
You stab ‘em, we’ll slab ‘em, some go to Heaven, some go to hello!
Quote of the Year Nominee.
I knew of a judge who as standard practice, issued orders from the bench requiring domestic violence victim women no longer with their abusive ex-husband or boyfriend, to be armed when in public.
He was sick of seeing the same women before him, beaten up again, even though there was a restraining order against the guy.
The judge was also self-satisfied. In several years of issuing bench orders requiring guns, none, zero, of the women he had ordered to be armed had appeared before him again.
“But we can’t depend on the police to protect us any more.”
In reality, I don’t think the police ever WERE able to protect each and every one of us at any point in time.
I like this guy. :)
Everyone who is eligible should buy a gun ASAP and learn how to use it. If you already own a gun, buy another one, or more. The crooks already have them.
The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed! - 2nd Amendment. The Demos, other socialists and the crooks want our right to be infringed -— taken away — even if they can’t get enough support to delete or change the 2nd via the required process for amending the Constitution. The founders obviously ranked our right to keep and bear arms highly, since it is the 2ND AMENDMENT, right after the FIRST (free speech, assembly, petition).
And know/practice how to use it!!
Plenty of southern judges get it.
WOW!
We need more like Judge Moon on the bench, he’s realistic about crime and being prepared to protect ourselves.
Thanks for the ping.
Judge Moon said, "If it had been my house you came in on, you would have wound up at Coulter Funeral Home."
Here, let me fix that
Judge Moon said, "If it had been my house you came in on, you would have been pounded into a cannon atop Chickamauga and blsted o'er the rivah."
Too infrequently by too few any more.
