McCain: Obama needs to consult on stimulus

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Former presidential rival John McCain expressed disappointment on Friday that President Barack Obama has not negotiated with Republicans over a huge economic stimulus plan and said he is working on an alternative package.

Speaking to Reuters, Arizona Sen. McCain said the alternative plan would include what he described as "more effective tax cuts, such as a payroll tax cut" and spending on projects aimed at immediately creating jobs.

"A group of us Republican senators are working on coming up with an alternative package that I would hope would have some elements to it that Americans would support," said McCain, who lost the November 4 U.S. election to Obama, a Democrat.

"One, we have to have an alternative and two, we still hope that the administration -- although time is running out -- that the administration will sit down and do some serious negotiating, which they have not done," he said. [snip]

McCain coming in late with an alternative plan that will be ignored as cover to negotiate and dilute the opposition.

Which is what is not needed right now.

The time to negotiate ended in Nancy Pelosi’s office. That time is past.

McCain should suspend his senate seat and push this through.

He’s going to undo all the good the House Republicans accomplished. He’s going to be the “bridge”.

McCain is no doubt waiting for some microscopic concession so he can roll over, declare victory, and support the bill in the name of bi-partisanship.

Pelousy wouldn’t let anyone in.

The GOP is what it can under the circumstances. The 100% nay vote in the House is the most evidence of nads we have seen from the party in years.

Yep, that's our albatross alright. John doesn't like the idea he didn't get a chance to help devise the bill that will sell our values out. Who cares if ACORN gets billions just before the 2012 elections. As long as John can act like a kingpin, all is well with him.

This guy has so got to go.

McCain will probably add illegal alien amnesty, and social programs for Mexico....

You wonder if this is just a ruse to add more spending...

Told ya. He will destroy all the ground made by House Republicans.

Caving on this bill with a few little changes is what the Senate will do.

Thanks RINOs.
