ANCHORAGE, Alaska Mount Redoubt continues to rumble and simmer, prompting geologists to say this Alaska volcano could erupt "within days."
Scientists from the Alaska Volcano Observatory have been monitoring activity round-the-clock since the weekend.
If Mount Redoubt does erupt, it would be the first time this occurred in nearly 20 years. And if won't likely be pretty.
History shows that volcanoes in Alaska, including Redoubt, typically erupt explosively, shooting ash almost eight miles high.

Hope it doesn’t. I’ve got a son and grandkids living within sight of it.
Women and minorities will be hardest hit.
I pray they stay safe.
If it erupts with a lot of ash obscuring visibility, Sarah won’t be able to see Russia from her porch!

Could be nasty for folks flying to many Asian locations. We are flying to Bangkok in February and KAL, JAL and EVA all have flights that go through that general area. Not a good idea to be over this when it pops.
White construction workers hardest hit
Interesting.
That’s scary, hope everyone is safe.
Thank you. Me too.
It’s caused by Globalwarmingcoolingclimatechangehope.
Nope, it’s Barry’s fault.
Never mind this bilge article, FRiends, how about an update of what’s really what?
OMG, The Iranians, or maybe the North Koreans, tried to nuke Sara. :) But they apparently missed.
Oh wait, that photo was taken almost 19 years ago.
Never Mind. :)
We’re in Wasilla, and the projections are for the ash cloud to come straight over us.
OMG! This will result in an extreme climate change...like there goes global warming. Or as we call it here in the North: Cold weather.
The pics on the Alaskan volcano site remind me of the initial Pinatubo eruption in the Philippines. The next day it was completely dark, even at noon. If you didn’t have a flashlight, you couldn’t see your own hand.
It didn’t help that it happened on a payday, so most had not done their grocery shopping yet, and we lost potable water right away.
Stay safe up there.
Hey, I’ve heard of Wasilla...recently, in fact.
My kids are on the Kenai, directly across the inlet from Redoubt.
