This is a memo from Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Democratic members sent after the stimulus vote yesterday. Pelosi is apparently panicked at Republicans success in uniting against her hyperpartisan actions in shutting them out of the formulation of the stimulus bill and in peeling nearly a dozen Dems off to vote in opposition.
Here is the full text of the memo leaked to HUMAN EVENTS this morning.

Re: The Republican Problem
Date: January 29, 2009
The House Republican Leadership put its Members in another politically untenable position yesterday: trying to reclaim the mantle of lower taxes and small government -- at the exact time when economists of every ideological stripe agree that government investments are the only way to get our economy moving again and make us competitive for the long term.
So yesterday, while we are facing the greatest economic crisis in decades, Republican House Members ended up voting unanimously against:

no, we get screwed. LOL
Where in the actual bill can see back up her claims! She can’t. How long do they think the people will put up with this BS.
I consider the claims to be lies. She always lies.
Your “mid-1930s” is off-base. FDR took over in March 1933 and none of his pump-priming was designed to balance the budget. For that matter, it did not get us out of the Deparession.
And if an economist dare say that government investments will fail - he will be labeled as an economic denier. It is going to be just like global warming. Even when hard evidence starts to refute the policy, they will push forward.
What a wretched wreck of a human being is she.
Hard to say right now. Grassley is plodding along in committee getting small victories (like the AMT freeze extended and today winning a "commitment" to "work on" fixing some banal charity "mileage problem"--egads!)
Who ever knows what the Senate will do? Will Grassley vote for it because of these microscopic concessions? More outrageous things happen every day in the Senate.
Nah, she’s just sending out the list of ‘talking points’, so that the Dems can try to justify their support for this package. Since they can’t blame any of it on the Republicans, they want to try to ‘poison the water’ for the Republicans with the American people, before the bad news from the package starts.
Own it b****
Nothing but love fer ya...

LOL. If Nancy believed this was true, she would be giddy, not panicked. Here's the real take on the vote (from another thread):
"What Member can't go back his or her District and explain: Rather than voting for a bloated bill, ... I voted for an alternative that would create twice the jobs at half the cost, and faster?" a House Republican leadership aide said. "That's why we didn't lose a single Republican and picked up 11 Democrats."
(a) Why ask — they always lie, (b) It didn’t need saying — the dems are scared of getting the blame in 2 years time for another GFU.
I agree with you - this is a carefully orchestrated media leak.
If it passes the Senate and gets signed...then watch within the next few weeks as the media begins to report signs that the ‘stimulus’ is already having an impact on the economy.
It will be bogus of couse, and they’ll throw out bogus numbers to back it up, but it will temporarily give the media’s masters more justification that ‘Nancy’s right’...
Did that bill really have a provision for lowering the federal income tax rates or was it just some ignorant tax rebate/credit/biscuit?
Hi sweetie!
Welcome back to the fight.
I know, you never left; just nice to see you posting
Actually, my congressman is a member of the blue-dog coalition and he votes to the left of Nancy Pelosi. So I looked. Of the 12 Dems who voted no, 6 were blue-dogs (and my congressman, of course, was not one of them).
There are 48 Dems in the blue-dog club. So much for their conservatism.

The Cato Institute has prepared an ad signed by many prominent economists who reject the idea that government spending can stimulate the economy. It appears in today’s New York Times and tomorrow’s Washington Post.
203 economist...
GOOD GRIEF!!! The Democrats now LEAD the Congress and have since Jan 2007! Good Lord are her voters that stupid!
I don't care what the American people do with that money. They can put it in their mattresses for all I care. I just don't want the Congress to have it to depend on for their pet projects. THAT'S why they don't want the tax cut. It cuts into the pork going to their constituents.
It's interesting that she mentioned the vote in 1993, when the Republicans refused to cooperate with the Dems in their budget. The American people must have liked that action, because the following year, the Repubs. took back the house. I think folks will find that it is at THAT point that the budget surpluses started happening, NOT because of any of x42's policies.
