Transportation officials in Texas are scrambling to prevent hackers from changing messages on digital road signs after one sign in Austin was altered to read, "Zombies Ahead."
Chris Lippincott, director of media relations for the Texas Department of Transportation, confirmed that a portable traffic sign at Lamar Boulevard and West 15th Street, near the University of Texas at Austin, was hacked into during the early hours of Jan. 19.
"It was clever, kind of cute, but not what it was intended for," said Lippincott, who saw the sign during his morning commute. "Those signs are deployed for a reason to improve traffic conditions, let folks know there's a road closure."
"It's sort of amusing, but not at all helpful," he told FOXNews.com.

I can rest easy, knowing it might be a distant relative of Dobby....
It is a new game now, with 2 and a half minutes to play.
Wrong...the Cards lost...
I guess it just wasn’t in the cards.
Good night everybody!
I wish I had one of those....
LOL!
*HUG*
Good night, Sweetie!
God love ‘em...they sure tried. And I yelled myself hoarse!
Back to packing for trip. (Once the shirts are packed, it's about a 5 - 10 minute task.
w00t!
Howdy!
Still tempted to join in on the Zombie fun in MLPS this summer. Last one almost got a bunch o' folks canned though... Forewarning for the gendarmes seems prudent if you are walking around dressed up as a flesh wound.
I try to let my fantasies be a departure from my regular life.
Darks pinged me, but it was on a day when I was ferrying a friend’s mum to the doctor and such.
Zombie threads are hard to come by!
Fantasies are good for what ails ya!
Of course!
All the young dudes know that tune.
Just now you’d find it’s a balmy 42F in the shade, here, and quite remarkably shady, indeed, but destined for a high ~70F, or so later on.
This is the first I’ve been really able to squeak in more than a single-line post in the past several days, and many of you who’ve been keeping score will be thrilled to learn that my youngest daughter arrived last week on the 28th, just before ten at night. At just over 6 1/2 pounds, the Mrs. is especially happy to have had an induced delivery at 36 1/2 weeks, and not gone full-term.
The ladies were discharged in good health on Friday, and we’ve had my in-laws at the house daily helping out, and getting in their time with the baby.
I’ll get pictures as soon as I have the time to get them uploaded where I can link them so you can see them.
We ARE still playing watch the clock with that pesky bilirubin number, and hope that it peaked, today. After all, “little punkin” is SUPPOSED to be a term of endearment, not an accurate physical description. Dr’s visit tomorrow to verify the direction of the trend.
MEANWHILE.....
I am in the throes of beating the infernal 64-bit Vista out of a perfectly decent HP Pavillion a6628f workstation. On behalf of my FIL, I will have it bow its architecture to his O/S of choice: XP Home.
So far, so good.
Tomorrow...drivers.
Now, to sleep. [At least until the next feeding...]
Good morning! Sunny and 37 here, supposed to be 60 later. My Thomas (#3) was bright orange for two weeks. He turned out ... well, I hesitate to say “just fine,” but healthy!
Oh, and congratulations to the whole family!
Here's your LOLcat, everyone. I have to go supervise the Offspring!
YIKES!
Vista-ectomy!
*wincing*
