This is the Obama/Limbaugh Bi-Partisan Economic Stimulus Compromise Plan of 2009
(You may remember that Obama said he "didnt care where the suggestions [to fix the economy] come from, all will be weighted...")
This proposal is dead serious. Here is the plan:
Obama won the election with 54% of the vote, compared to 46% for McCain.
PROPOSED: The US will invest 1 Trillion Dollars (One Thousand Billion Dollars) to end the recession by stimulating the economy.
54% invested Obamas way: spending - $540 Billion. Obama's way gets the majority of the funds, reflecting the outcome of the election. 46% invested the Republican's way: tax cuts, specifically capital gains cuts and business tax relief, plus other tax payer reductions - $460 Billion
These different approaches will be implemented at the same time and we can measurably compare which plan makes the economy improve the fastest. We won't have all our eggs in one basket and we will know for future reference which approach better stimulates the economy, spending or tax cuts. If a combination of the two works best, great. We will know for sure.
This bill is truly bipartisan and reflects the wishes of *all* the American people, both those who voted for Obama and those who didn't. This is true bi-partisanship. As Obama said, everyone will "have some skin in the game."
Will you support this bi-partisan approach to ending the recession? Talk to your friends and neighbors. Forward this email.
We're all in this together. Let's solve it together.
Opposition portion: Start-up bakeries, specializing in pies, unfettered by over-regulation and confiscatory taxes, allowing for well-paid employees to become productive citizens who pay taxes (and pay for their own condoms supporting yet another industry) and increase federal revenues for a strong military and minimal government.
We can only keep politely pressing them, hopefully in greater and greater numbers. Don't let up.
Wishful thinking?
You "spend" that money by not accepting that revenue. Reduce taxes by an equivilent of 460 Billion, and watch the economy jump start it self.
I personally think a combo of spending and tax cuts are best, though it has to be the right spending and right tax cuts, and Obama’s plan has neither.
Rush’s plan is pretty brilliant.
I believe if the Dems get $540 billion the Reps figure should be $460 billion or the numbers don’t add up to a trilliion.
Rush said Obambi could have the votes for nutjobs.
Like Akroid in Ghost Busters-
“You don’t know what it’s like. I’ve worked in the private sector....they expect results”.
That's what hit me as well. I haven't seen the actual wording of Limbaugh's plan, but he'd have to mean $46 billion in relief; not additional spending.
I think Rush means $460 billion in non-revenue neutral tax relief, which the Dems consider to be "spending" which must be paid for somewhere else.
What's to stop the Dems from claiming it is their government stimulus that improved the economy?
I think that's the fatal flaw in Rush's plan.
He talked about doing a side-by-side comparison, but we know the Dems will take credit (illegitimately) for the improvement.
If Rush is serious, and sometimes it's hard to know whether he's playing with us or not, the two plans should be done separately.
I say our side goes first...
You are correct. If someone has the proper FRmail address for the moderator I will ask him/her to fix this (blush) typo.
I think that, for the most part, Freepers understand the concept. I’m not certain the congress-critters do.
If you to jump on a bandwagon that will really jumpstart the economy...press for the month of April to be a federal tax holiday.
I’ve already faxed the concept to my House rep.
LOL! Exactly right!!!
No wonder we are in trouble.
This idea is a really good one for two reasons.
First, it puts BO in a corner. He either has to look bipartisan or show what I believe to be his true colors: That he thinks he was anointed rather than elected.
Second, what makes this a really great idea is that tax cuts will be for every citizen who pays taxes of the type included in the relief package which means that whether you are a dim, a republican or an independent, you will get tax relief.
That puts a real monkey on BO’s back because there will be a lot of dims that would love to get a tax break.
So now you have a dim who halfway believes in BO’s plan and gets a tax break at the same time....
That should make it more difficult for BO to hold his herd together.
Especially if the republicans in congress take this seriously and make a big effort in its behalf. That will really put pressure on the dim leadership.
Obviously I would rather see tax relief as a 100% method, but this idea is not only better than nothing, it is a brilliant strategic move that puts lots of pressure on the libs and could as well be a good economics lesson for those who have problems with Ec.101.
Brilliant? Ahem. Just don’t tell me that McPain has a say on where any of the $460B goes.
I listened today and that is the way it sounded, as if he meant 460 billion in tax cuts. Actually I would rather see the tax cuts done seperately, say the second two years, and see how things play out. I don't think you could do both and see a separate results from each. Spend us into poverty the first two years and cut taxes to the bone the second two years and see which two years has the greatest impact, in a good way.
However, I do believe Rush was simply making a point. The dems don't want to be bi-partisan, they want it all their way. The dems ideas of bi-partisan is that a republican gets to sit in on a meeting about the economy and Bozo's idea of bi-partisan is that republicans shut up and agree to his plan.
Rush was saying if they wanted a real bi-partisan effort then they would have to allow republican ideas also and threw this plan out as an example.
They will try, but since the results will be coming in over time perhaps our side can figure out a transparent method of keeping score to see real-life the cause/effect of the successful stimuli???
