Isnt that convenient? Just in time to provide cover for Pres. Obama, ABC discovers that closing Gitmo isnt so easy. Downright sticky, actually.
Introducing a segment by chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross on GMA today, weekend co-anchor Bill Weir set the tone.
BILL WEIR: We turn now to the sticky prospect of shutting down the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

IMHO BHO will hope the far left will mostly forget about Git’mo one year from now. If he’s still feeling the heat he will actually close it and move them to another undisclosed location.
Your right, I did not hear any whimpers either. In fact, the leftist media outlets flat out ignored most information that did not fit their hate/trash Bush storylines.
NBC, CBS, and the New York Times will "discover" it soon too - - not implying it's "teachers pet" bias or anything... /sarcasm
I think the folks of ABC who slammed Palin so unmercifully and praised Obama so unnecessarily should consider offering up room in their Manhattan apartments to the released prisoners. They gotta go somewhere; their home countries don’t want them back. The folks at ABC are rich, so they can afford it. /s
All the liberals and RINOs should be required to guard the terrorist scum themselves while the vermin are going to meetings with their lawyers etc. Oh, and Congressman Conyers, Senator Leahy..... you weasels might want to invest in some protective eyewear so that you don’t end up with a sharpened comb plunged through your eye into your brain:

. . .Why Islamic Terrorists Should Be Treated as Enemy Combatants and not put in our lame criminal justice system:
A reputed former leader of Al Qaeda who is serving 32 years in prison for stabbing a jail guard in 2000 must be resentenced, a federal appeals panel in Manhattan ruled on Tuesday, because a judge wrongly concluded that the man’s crime did not meet the legal standard for terrorism.
Federal prosecutors, who argued that the attack met the standard for terrorism, had sought a life sentence for the defendant, Mamdouh Mahmud Salim. Officials have described him as a founder of Al Qaeda and a former top aide to Osama bin Laden.
Mr. Salim pleaded guilty to stabbing the guard, Louis Pepe, in 2002.

Prosecutors said that the stabbing was part of a fruitless plan to take hostages and escape from the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Lower Manhattan. Mr. Pepe, who was stabbed in the eye, was left with severe brain damage.
At the time of the stabbing, Mr. Salim was awaiting trial in a terrorist conspiracy case stemming from the 1998 bombings of two American embassies in East Africa, in which 224 people were killed.
He later testified that he had become frustrated with his lawyers, and stabbed Mr. Pepe so he could take his keys, unlock a visitors’ room, and attack his lawyers so they would withdraw from his case.
Two things:
1) Had this cretin been classified as an enemy combatant, perhaps he could have been kept in Gitmo, instead of tried and sent to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. A prison guard might still have sight in both eyes and not have brain damage.
2) If we didn’t treat these guys as criminals, but as the high-risk national security problems they are, he wouldn’t have endless appeals in court, and this case wouldn’t even be in the news, regardless of the fact that the Court of Appeals got it right.

Devil's Island is available, and we're friends again with the French.
This is all Bullsh#t. Nothing sticky about it.
Those guys should all face a military tribunal been convicted, and then be shot. Should have been done years ago.
We have AMPLE precedent from the Second World War when saint FDR reigned.....
But noooooo! We get Obama being allowed to say "Yes, Gitmo is a disgrace. But, we have tried to find a way to close it and we just couldn't come up with a solution."
Problem solved - over!
That is the pictorial definition of a wimp.
And what the heck is that on top of his head...is that fake hair? ew.
ping
It's all yours!
Thanks for the compliment.
"The problems created by President George W. Bush are much greater than we had thought originally."
How far do we have to reach in order to apply the US Constitution to the foreign religious zealots that are attempting to kill Americans? I mean, do we read the Miranda Act before every fire fight in Afghanistan now? How about we drop free, one-time use cell phones on the enemy encampments so that they get their one call? This is ridiculous!
I say send them back to their country of origin or to where we found them and set ‘em free; you know like they say about love: set it free. The difference is, if these terrorists come back KILL ‘EM!
We should just stop “arresting” these guys and kill em all. That is the only way we can be safe!
Not sure why i even wrote that as i’m just preaching to the choir here.
alas, NBC/MSNBC will NEVER come to this realization.
The LEFT has always ONLY cared about INTENTIONS, not results. The fact that BHO says he wants to shut down Gitmo is enough, actually doing it is irrelevant!!
Rush used to say about the Klintoon era: Symbolism over Substance
That applies even more so about the Hussein era!
"Some of the most dangerous terrorists in the world are at Gitmo," Roberts said. "Only one wing of the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Ft. Leavenworth meets maximum security requirements, and it's far too small for even a handful of detainees. Detainees require their own hospital and medical care, religious spaces, courtrooms, and even recreation facilities. Plus, there's no support facilities for the several thousand guards needed and their families."
In other words, it's gonna be mighty expensive to accomodate these good folks in facilities which afford the lifestyle to which they've become accustomed, and to pay for attempting to keep our citizenry safe as well.
Wonder how many who are anticipating the great redistribution of wealth would be willing to take a smaller slice of the government pie so these fine folks could have their fair share? That ought to be enough incentive to change perceptions of the need to close Gitmo.
