Great idea, smart kid. I hope he gets the rights to it, he could pay his way through college with that idea I bet.

That is a cool idea. Maybe they could put some of these stickers on jet engines? (mostly j/k) :-)

Awesome!!!! Great to see the spirit of invention in America!

Got that right!
My house is almost all windows facing west up the White Oak Valley in Southern Ohio. We routinely hear the ‘thump, thud’ of birds hitting them, and then falling dead or at the very least stunned, onto our deck.
While my dogs seem to enjoy it...I get tired of the feathers and such on said deck, in my living room, on my dogs.
If this stuff works, sign me up for five gallons please.

I need one for my patio door. Seems like a bird crashes into the glass once a week.

You know, if Obama had gone into inventing, he might have come up with this invention — only his decals would have been simple clear plastic that neither birds nor humans could see. But his marketing campaign would have promised safer windows for all. Until some little boy came along and pointed about that the One had no real product.

hey Fawn, check this out. You freak out about a few dead birds and the tenuous link to pesticides, you should love this idea.

I guess if humans cannot see it but birds can, there is no sense in posting a picture. As we would not be able to see it anyway and not too many birds are registered at FR.

It's a great idea. I have to pick up two or three bird carcasses each year from crashes into my south facing windows. I would love a version to put on driver's side windows of my vehicles. We had a big robin flapping in front of the driver's side view mirror on my wife's Escape. It left lots of poop on the mirror, window and door. That went on for almost a month.

I call B.S. on this story. It’s just a kid in flyover country. The only people smart enough to develop something this clever would be properly accredited scientists from top-notch schools in a hugely inefficient boondoggle of a government agency. We need to appropriate millions of dollars of taxpayer money to a research lab, a whole agency to oversee it, and hearings after hearings to keep updated on the progress of the thing.
Oh wait, the thing actually works? Hm. Well I’ll be. Maybe the government wasn’t involved after all.

There's a downer to this, folks.
Apparently there is already a patent for this idea. 2007
The inventor: Barry C. Arkles, Assignee: Gelest Technologies, Inc.
I don't know if this kid is brilliant, or merely clever and googled it. Obviously CBC ain't too bright.
I know a few people who are so proud that their kids have figured out how to cheat on their school projects by using the Internet!! Disgusting.
