WASHINGTON -- President Obama, putting his executive pen in his left hand to overrule eight years of Bush administration policy, signed "several" executive orders Thursday, including ones affecting national security and abortion.
The national security orders mandate that interrogation techniques in the Army Field Manual be used by all intelligence and law enforcement services; call for a task force to look at closing the detention center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, within the year; and order a strategy be developed for handling detainees in the future. The presidential directive also orders a stay in the case of Ali Al-Marri, the only person being held by the military as an enemy combatant on U.S. soil.

How politically expedient of him, and by his proclamation this makes America Safer!. The problem is that he is making a decision before all the facts on how he is going to deal with the myriad of issues involved in actually accomplishing the goal of the decision are answered.

LOL, i have a strong affection for President Bush. The point was the Hypocrisy of the left and the media regarding things that Obama does compared and contrasted with the decisions that Bush made.
Bush always erred on the side of protecting America from her enemies. Obama is erring on the side of protecting America’s enemies.
That is it in a nutshell. If terrorists that don't wear uniforms, torture (the real thing), use mosques and ambulances for weapon storage and transportation, etc. are going to get away with ignoring wholesale the basic rules of warfare that we are supposed to uphold AND STILL get POW rights...then there will simply be less "POW's".

And since New york and Virginia explicitly retain this right, then the other parties to the agreement arguably have it as well.

Yup. And after signing the Guantanamo order, you hear the applause from the media and "thank-yous." Then after signing three more (the third EO essentially admitting that many of the detainees are in limbo because they are dangerous) he goes on a riff about the importance of the three EO's he signed when in fact it was four. Now that i think about it, he keeps enumerating how many more are left so remembering it was four should have been easy.
I watched that and thought WTH is this man doing I put my head n my hands and just thought how on earth did the voters of this great country get so dumb as to vote for this idiot.

It’s funny when I look back at the adminstration of the oath where, true, Roberts muffed the required line (Note to CJ Roberts: when it comes to a Constitutional oath that MUST be word-for-word, don’t forget the cue card). But, in fact, Roberts probably was thrown off by the fact that Obama jumped the gun before Roberts finished the first required line.
