President Obama placed the Middle East at the forefront of his first hours in office yesterday as he sought to make good on his promise of ushering in a new era of peace.
In a flurry of telephone calls from the Oval Office, he reached out to leaders in the region and vowed to engage immediately in pursuit of a permanent Arab-Israeli settlement.
The spokesman for President Abbas revealed that Mr Obama had told the Palestinian leader that their conversation was his first with a foreign statesman since taking office. Mr Obama also spoke to President Mubarak of Egypt, Ehud Olmert, the Israeli Prime Minister, and King Abdullah of Jordan.

this is change??? Which leader hasn't made that a priority? The trick is actually coming up with something that can work.

Canada? England? France? Germany? Japan? I would have thought there were about a hundred heads of state he should have called before Abbas.
They're not his people, nor his culture.
Kenya will be his foreign trip. Back to his homeland.

hey..like Rush...I know these marxists like I know every inch of my glorious naked body...lol
We are so screwed. This was Obama and the dems planned all along. They are going to cram this stuff down Americans throats as fast and furious as they can while Obama is in his ‘honeymoon’ phase. Not sure what he is worried about though, as the media is not going to fall out of love with their messiah ever.....so what’s the big rush?
The republicans in Congress have surrendered too...so there is really no hurry. Very strange when you think about it from a strategic standpoint.

The spokesman for President Abbas revealed that Mr Obama had told the Palestinian leader that their conversation was his first with a foreign statesman since taking office. Tell me again why all those Jews in New York and Florida voted for him?

Wow. His first call is to a terrorist.
Abbas was the financier of the debut act of the modern era of terrorism, the 1972 Munich Massacre of Israeli athletes.
Disgust doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about this.

Sure it was. Obama’s first call was to BFF Moqtada al-Sadr just to say what’s up.

As i have told my recently estranged former friends, they are either in denial of reality or are just plain ol’ ignorant.
I have been sending links that continue to demonstrate where Hussein stands on the muzzie-Israeli conflict, and the only response I got close to reality was “so, maybe one day you’ll be able to say I told you so”.

Well, if he actually DID call Abbas first, let’s pray he told them to lay down their arms and supp[ort the right of Israel to exist.
Sorry, I had to think positive....someone has to think positive about his first phone call TO A TERRORIST!!!

Thats nice. And our allies can wait their turns? Canada? England? France? Germany? Japan? I would have thought there were about a hundred heads of state he should have called before Abbas. I would have been surprised if the usurper had called any of our friends before calling all of his friends.
