Is there no solidarity among the Roberts of the world? Granted the first interview with the new president during one of the inaugural balls last night, Robin Roberts devoted a chunk of her precious time to laying the blame for the flubbing of the oath of office at the feet of Chief Justice John Roberts.
Pres. Obama responded graciously, acknowledging that both he and the Chief Justice made their mistakes. And indeed, NBCs Pete Williams, analyzing things at First Read this morning, points out that it was Obama who goofed first, jump[ing] in before the do solemnly swear phrase, which in turn seemed to throw Justice Roberts off. But that didnt stop Roberts for putting the rap entirely on John Roberts . . .
ROBIN ROBERTS: During the taking the oath of office, Chief Justice Roberts inadvertently switched some words up. You were trying to help him out there.

And so it begins.....the media’s never ending quest to blame others for Obama’s mistakes, even those so minor as to be not worthy of comment.
You must be in love with the “Black Magic” man!
Actually, I saw the text and the times. Obama started to repeat the words before Roberts had finished the phrase, stopped, and Roberts then tried to help him resume at the right place.
Why not just blame Bush. That worked well the last 8 years...
They’re undignified children.
That picture is rather amazing.
“You must be in love with the Black Magic man!”
Nice try. No, I’m in love with the obvious truth. Roberts screwed up the oath. If you must lie to yourself to feel better, that’s your problem. What good does this kind of denial do? It doesn’t help Roberts. When Roberts says he didn’t mess it up, you let me know.
I’m just impressed that she managed to resist putting a liplock on The One.
They both screwed up. Roberts led the way. This is NOT worth the waste of time.

So, what actually happened? First, did Obama flub the oath, if so, did Roberts flub it as well? Lets have a look at the transcript:
ROBERTS: I, Barack Hussein Obama
OBAMA: I, Barack
ROBERTS:
do solemnly swear
OBAMA: I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear
ROBERTS:
that I will execute the office of president to the United States faithfully
OBAMA:
that I will execute
ROBERTS:
faithfully the office of president of the United States
OBAMA:
the office of president of the United States faithfully
ROBERTS:
and will to the best of my ability
OBAMA:
and will to the best of my ability
ROBERTS:
preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
OBAMA:
preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
ROBERTS: So help you God?
OBAMA: So help me God.
ROBERTS: Congratulations, Mr. President.
The transcript makes clear that Justice Roberts made a mistake first, then corrected it, after which President Obama repeated the mistake not the correct version. In other words, both flubbed the oath, Roberts corrected himself, Obama did not.

It was a classic sign that Obama was conscious of the fact that he was lying when he took the oath.
He can memorize long speeches, but not the Oath of Office?
This type of flub happens when the speaker asserts that which is the opposite of what is truly in his mind.
If you watch the oath at Bush's 2005 inauguration, Rehnquist pauses after "I, George Walker Bush,..." and Bush repeats that before they move on to "do solemnly swear." Obama obviously thought Roberts was going to break the oath up the same way, and he doesn't jump in any faster than Bush did. But Roberts was planning to give him a longer chunk to repeat before pausing, so they stepped on each other's lines and couldn't recover. This whole attempt to figure out who to blame for it--on all sides--is silly.
“so they stepped on each other’s lines and couldn’t recover. This whole attempt to figure out who to blame for it—on all sides—is silly. “
Thank you!
Flubbed oath hopefully an omen for a flubbed administration.
The msm will concentrate on the irrelevant rather than the agenda of this marxist.
>>Theyre undignified children.
That’s an insult to children. But yes, they are most certainly undignified.
>>That picture is rather amazing.
Yep, I suspect it will symbolize the coming four years long after “The One” leaves office.
Oh you can bet your sweet bippy they will.
Yeah......
Yes, tree words. Specifically, the word 'leave'. As in, "Leave immediately, you poseur."
