The next skirmish in the long-running dispute about the teaching of evolution in Texas public schools is set for Wednesday.

That’s when scores of people, including six appointed curriculum reviewers, are expected to testify before the State Board of Education on a proposal for the next decade’s science curricula...

It’s easy, really:

Evolution—the best science available, teach it in school.
Creationism/ID—faith; above scientific discussion. Don’t teach it, but don’t ban discussion.

Creation and evolution are fully compatible.

Half of the graduating high school students in this country can’t read at a 4th grade level.

They wouldn’t know what they were being told anyway.

Caution .... science requires faith as well. It accepts on faith that all things can be known and explained. It has no room for “miracles”.

I know. Why don’t they teach both and let the students make up their own minds. You know critical thinking. Too simple? Sorry.

Evolution is a historical inference—based on materialist assumptions—about the unobservable, unrepeatable past. It is faith, not science.

That’s the reason Islam stalled when it came to modern science.

The assumptions that things in nature, and the rules thereof, can be discovered, known, and explained is considered a blasphemy in Islam - they call it “chaining Allah”.

The Christian God of the Bible is known to be Good and Faithful (ie, consistent), unchanging, and incapable of violating His character.

All of the others can be easily dismissed because they are inconsistent with scientific observation.

Or would you want to make an argument that the earth rests on the back of a turtle is the equivalent of the account in Genesis?

Well the one from the bible works for me. Just keep it simple. GOD knew he could not lecture quantum physics to shepards. Soo GOD created the heavens and earth in 6 days and played golf on the 7th. That was 6 days HIS time.

Using a parable that is not literally true yet conveys an eternal truth?

Who would teach using such a method?

Most Creationists are opposed to teaching it in public schools. What we are asking for is open discussion of evolution, rather than indoctrination that prohibits any critique.

Creation and evolution are fully compatible.

Really? Explain how they are compatible. Micro-evolution and creation are compatible, but there is no compatibility between macro-evolution and creation.

There is no evidence of macro-evolution having taken place. Lots of speculation, but nothing approaching proof.
